When Penny made her way into Doc's secret hideout she did manage to get some useful data. One of the files has led her to believe that Doc has a morbid fear of Japanese Sailor girl outfits.

Although she is not at liberty to divulge the details of the information she has discovered, she says it involves the London Underground, a group of visiting female Japanese Students and a trouser accident allegedly caused by a cup of coffee.

We have no data to verify or discredit this hypothesis.

From this information, Penny has established a team of highly trained covert operatives for psychological warfare.

Oops sorry I emailed Paolo already got em. As much as I love Luxrendering I have decided to incorporrate DS lighting to generate more revenue. I realize that alot of my none Reality / Lux stuff is favored due to the concept (Giant wimin being the most popular by far) so this allows for 2 tier pricing especially since DS does seem to render faster now... But nothing gives me results like Lux I have a commission that I had to rebuild an old set from a story last year rendered in UE I will post the results just to show what a better job LUX does with the same set...

I've learned a lot about what makes a good light setup with 3Delight.  It so critical of bad setups.

Seem that if you can get good results with 3Delight, you'll be a god with Lux.

So true I was making decent UE renders before getting into lux and I still more or less use the same lighting set up I always have no more then 2 to 3 lights save for the neat feature of conerting to Light in Lux.. Still Lux gives you some stuff that 3Delight just cant muster...

Rayman29 ( ) posted Sat, 22 September 2012 at 12:46 AM

Maybe its that 3Delight gives more insight into how shadow effects an image.

Lux gives the best results and is very forgiving of mediocre lighting.

True, Lux is unbiased and gives much better renders .  But when it comes to understanding what makes good light setups 3Delight is a great teacher.

bobvan ( ) posted Sat, 22 September 2012 at 1:50 AM · edited Sat, 22 September 2012 at 1:52 AM

I made alot of nice stuff with Paolo's basic lights,LDP2 ,UE some of my old stuff has 15 times more views & faves on D/A over my Lux stuff. I just prefer to use Lux now that I am use to it.  Its also alot more work. With 3Dlight you can set up the scene and your off to the races and with the new DS, UE renders are done in 15 to 20 minutes or less. With Reality most materials need to be adjusted but once your used to to the workflow its not that big of a deal. Queue rendering lets you make many at a time. Adjusting the lighting on the fly film response ect many nice features in Lux.... Some of my clients purchase large amount of renders. By giving them a 3Delight option I can give them a cheaper rate. If they want top quality they can pay the Lux rate...

Quick update on the candle project I'm working on. All the candles have been done, 12 types of candle. A dozen various holders/candlesticks.

At the moment I am working on the used candles. I've only done the one so far, but it was fun playing with the Hex-DS Bridge. As you can see from the picture you'll have a few variations after spinning them dials.

The set is with our testers, hopefully everything works as expected and I can add more "used" candles to the set.

While putting the scene together I needed something to stand the candles on so made the silver tray, this is not part of the set unless you want it.

Not to bash on you, but Studio's lighting system is a terrible teacher! It's false properties made me work harder than I needed to when I first started yearning that photo-real render quality. I figured out that it was what I learned in Studio that need be forgotten.

What you can take from Studio is scene set-up, but if you want to get really great results with Lux, study cameras and how film scenes are lit, then scale it to what you need ;-)

I know, I'm preaching like Paolo, but you know what? It's true! From the master's mouth, 'paint with light'. In other words, Lux is a good meat, but you need to understand how a camera interprets light to really get the flavor.

Seems I shouldn't preach while hungry!

If you have ever been in a professional studio, then you see the differences between 3Delight and Lux.

In lux you can set-up a scene with 1 light source and you'll get the results you expect, it can take you 5 or 6 lights to do the same with 3Delight.

bobvan ( ) posted Sat, 22 September 2012 at 4:25 AM · edited Sat, 22 September 2012 at 4:29 AM

No question wait until I post both renders of the same scenes and characters done in UE & Lux later on (daze still cookin.) The ONLY reason Iwill use 3Delight in some cases is to offer clients who may not care about quality a cheaper option to purchase custom stories if they choose to.

Thats my point.

The only way to get reasonable renders using 3Delight is by balencing the lighting of a scene.  Usually variations of three point lighting and UE.  Its very critical of bad lighting.

If you become good at getting the light right in 3Delight, the ability to to create good atmospheric lighting in Lux is greatly enhanced.

Render quality is clearly better in Lux
