Because you may be strangely and very oddly attached? You know the "here today, gone tomorrow" mentality of the Poser community. LOL.

Because of this thread, I spent 15 minutes yesterday looking at various clearance items...

WARK!

only 15 minutes?  lol

i browsed through 25 pages yesterday.

i'd like to complain a lil bit about those 3 sponsered items atop every page.  there is such a thing as over exposure.  i never want to look at that mitch hair again or the v4 overhaul.

"Why does it hurt??"

Because there is this inexplicable characteristic of humans
Where they judge the value of some thing based on wether others
( even anonymous strangers) have the same opinion of it.

when  there seems evidence that "the people" have rejected something you like, you feel "rejected" and even a little embarrassed for having liked it so much.

This mindset is what makes most consumers subject to manipulation of product marketing claims about who uses or "endorses" their products

it also is the main reason we have silly Immature Emotional hate wars engaged by so called Adults over things like Apple IOS vs Google Android,Mac Desktop OS vs Windows Desktop OS
Poser vs Daz studio/genesis etc etc.

these types of "Fan base" wars reveal alot about mentality of the people who participate in them.

Cheers

Just to clarify, there was a time when I bought a LOT more than I'll ever use. But those times are long behind me ;). These days I tinker and make stuff for Poser more than render with it...heh.

I'll "window" shop more often than that but most things go into my wishlist not my shopping cart. Then when I gift giving time comes I ask for gift certificates. When there's a sale or a coupon I'll get as much as I can.

Yes, things can out of clearance. Normally the clearance sale will spark a sale and then it will come out.

No doubt this explains some people's reactions. But it's awfully cynical to generalize so negatively.

Sometimes when I've used a product that has obviously had a great deal of work put into it (something that may not be quite obvious until you own it and use it), and you can tell that the creator really cared deeply about the quality of his/her work, it's painful to see it not sell well. This has nothing to do with fanboyism. It's simple empathy with the creator and a bit of sorrow for what I imagine must be the creator's disappointment.

ETA: I don't generally empathize with corporations. Despite their legal standing, they are not people.

When I lived in Texas, it was important to many people whether you drank Budweiser or Miller, supported Dallas or Houston, and drove a Dodge or a Chevy truck. We bond with people who make the same choices as us. But I don't think it's particularly relevant here.

You eat and have heat? Lucky you. I have lost 30 lbs and wear 2 coats indoors a sweater, sweat shirt and long johns all at the same time so I can expand my runtimes.

TIP: If it gets really cold, then turn your desk top computer around so the fans blow on you and render a scene with three dozen mirrors, on super high settings. If your have eneough characters in the scene wearing transmappped hair, it should keep you warm all night long.

You have to look at it in reverse. As a result of my sacrifices to support my favorite artists, they can eat and have heat so they can comfortablly create more products for me to buy!

Which is more important?

ROFLMFAO!!

Actually, my office has gotten so warm from renders that it has become a haven in winter. It amazes me how much heat my computer puts out, and even more, how much heat my monitors put out. :)

And indeed, I also hate to think of my favourite artists bent over their frozen keyboards wearing fingerless gloves and wiping the icy condensation off of their monitors before getting to work. I'd like to think that my purchases permit them to put a coal on the fire once in a while, perhaps especially at Christmas time.

No, it does not. Once on clearance, the item stays there (unless it was mistakenly put in the clearance section) until it hits 90 days without a sale, and then it is gone from here for good (if it is a good item, hopefully to turn up somewhere else).

But if it gets sales, it gets a temporary stay of execution ;)

Hmm maybe that's how I can lose weight. Spend all my grocery money on poser content. Family might get a bit testy at that though.
