Subject: Reality Render thread. A new beginning.

Yep... Everything in the building scene is defaulted back to glossy hours of work converting and hiding materials to null down the drain...

Pret-a-3D ( ) posted Mon, 24 September 2012 at 11:50 AM

Maybe others can check if this is happening. I can't reproduce the problem.

So what then all I know before Reality 2.5 and studio 4.5 this was a none issue

Think I finally got my bump settings for this character dialed in perfectly.  The hair still needs some work as not even a smoothing modifier could correct the jagged parts of it.  Could just be due to the position of her head.  One step closer to my optimum Callad-esque render settings.

bobvan ( ) posted Mon, 24 September 2012 at 12:27 PM

Ok I built the building I posted above reduced gloss coverted some windows & street lamps ect. Before that I had saved several characters as scenes with reality adjustments clothing eyes ect. I open the building scene then select merge scene in DS to bring in said character then all the building is back to full gloss for everything I converted all the converted lights are wiped out and my character is also back to default with the clothing all fully glossed

superboomturbo ( ) posted Mon, 24 September 2012 at 12:34 PM

Just out of curiosoity Bob, when doing your Reality scene for merges, do you actually start the render in Lux? I'm not sure why this makes a difference, but it works for me (read below).

I've noticed that, even if I only make one change with Reality for a lux scene, I need to save it in Studio immediately after as Studio will occasionally forget if I just go off of the scene pre-reality. I normally do this after the export to Lux has completed and Lux is starting up. Close reality, save scene in Studio.

I merge scenes quite often, but then again, I'm still using 4.0.3.47

I've bowed down to facebook: https://www.facebook.com/crimsonworx

I always save the scene in studio once completed (which I had then I rendered the bare scene you commented on) This morning upon merging the character I had saved to work in Reality, I select the surefaces of the clothing I had set to matte it was all glossy again then when I re adjusted & ran a test render, I noticed all my convert to light were not lit up I look in the light groups and see them all AWOL then I check the metarials I had converted most of them had reverted to full glossy as well. I dont get it...

Nice skin, love the eye shadow! the jagged hair is due to position and a poor hair product with simple rigging/geometry. You shouldn't have to apply the smoothing modifier to hair. That is the first thing I look for when buying a hair product and why I tend to stick with certain vendors that don't have this issue with their models. I am always leary of SWAM, propschick, nikisatez and outoftouch hair addons for that very reason. Something to be said for quality over quantity since these vendors seems to mass produce products.

The skin is choice..   My only suggestion would be to increase gloss on the lips.

I like the pose but take a close look at her left eye, the pupil is down inside her lower eyelid.

It's old school hair, best of luck with it.   Nice work!

Ok Bob, and when you save, do you save in Reality or Studio?

bobvan ( ) posted Mon, 24 September 2012 at 1:10 PM

Studio could that be the problem? because in Reality it does not let you "save as" and have had it overwrite the wrong file before.. It was fine with the previous version

(now a little 'doc tease': Going to the bedroom and slowly will undress, then will put on a slightly see-through nightgown and will slide gracefully into my bed. No daubt I will dream of.. counting sheep! :P )

IBL is Winter Forest from HDRlabs:

http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/archive.html

The Gown is a Dynamic cloth by Khory for DAZ Studio being released soon. This scene was created before I developed Gynophobia.

Oh LOL! You wished Doc! Now my nighty is SLIGHTLY see-through! and has straps, is a little shorter and has lace at the 'crucial' top-part.

~very nice render btw!~

Haven't been much on-line lately since work is hectic and my 'better half' is at home with severe back-problems. (needs a lotta TLC)  ..and -no- Doc.. the back-problems aren't due to ..uhm.. that. :P :b_bashful:

On the plus side I have everything re adjusted and its rendering lightning fast!

"that"   Is the only way to go.   It's called pain with a smile.  😉

"that"  Could also be the cure..   Just a thought.

There is something wrong somewhere, as Reality should let you "Save as" if a scene hasn't been saved before.

I created some test files, try those. Load the master, then merge the corresponding file labelled secondary. The clothing should all be Matte. The files labelled Reality were saved in Reality, others in Studio. So both ways work.

It may be new but old school rigging......  I have several hairs from Bice and OOT that work great and some that are crap so it is hard for me to recommend a vendor.  Most of my hairs have not been reinstalled but I will run some quick tests on what I have and let you know which ones work well. I don't think I have anything from Swam that's worth a crap.... IMHO

That's a lot of work, just go to the Attach a File below the message  and browse to the image location on your computer. It's the same as Daz, keep it under 500 kb..

Edit:  If you want to post the full 1or2 mg file you will need to go the other route.
