Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 01 9:10 pm)
He he. Well, I guess the term shader usually seems to be used, I think, to refer to the nodes used to manipulate the base textures...the procedural stuff??
...so yeah, I imagine you're already making shaders in one form or another. They can be super complex, certainly when you're trying to make ones that have subtle, blurry, fresnel reflection in them... etc.
...but I am happy to let the shader maths gurus like BB deal with that aspect... I'll just use his shader setups and things like Snarly's EZSkin and EZmetals, to boost any vendor textures that don't already use these techniques...
Quote - Not even going to bother, monkeycloud... (or maybe I just did), you'll find some way to be critical of any comment I make here no matter what. Yeah, I used the word procedurally, i.e., with an algorithm rather than manually. Christ I hope bagginsbill doesn't pop in here!
I wasn't trying to be critical... or come across like that... sorry! Indeed, I was just meaning to agree with what you'd already posted
Teach me to post whilst doing other stuff... he he.
Ok, so I've just been reading the renderosity marketplace guidelines and it says that all textures 'should include MAT pose files to apply those textures and/or .mc6 or .mt5 files (whichever are more appropriate to the specific product.'
So I'm wondering how you figure out what is more appropraite to the specific product? :S I might have to learn how to make MAT poses after all.
I also tried to get the file listing utility thing (for the readme file), but got an error saying 'this member's bandwidth has expired' or words to that effect. So if anyone can give me any tips on how to structure the file listing, or an alternative utility, I'd really appreciate it!
Quote - > Quote - Monkeycloud here's some crappy low res jpegs of some of my ceramic work in case you are curious...
Are those salt shakers? I love that. Would be cool to see the salt and pepper pouring out of their eyes and mouth. lol.
very nice ceramics work displayed here imo.

That'd be a cool effect! It is awesome work... does make me miss doing "real world" stuff.

I reckon that mc5/mc6 files are perfectly appropriate for what you've got VP..Union less you're also targeting much older Poser versions that just don't have these at all?

I don't even know what poser versions I'm targeting, it really depends on what people are using these days. I guess everyone has the latest or more recent versions? As long as not many people are using poser 6 and earlier it should be fine I guess. I don't know anything about the functionality of the earlier versions of poser (or the later ones for that matter!) because I've only ever used poser 7.
do you need MAT poses for daz studio? I used to use it way back when I started doing 3D but don't have it on my computer anymore because once I got poser...well, there was no point in using Daz anymore lol..
I guess I'll just have to ask people with different versions of poser/daz to beta test my textures. (have to do that anyway for the marketplace.)

Oh, ok! I always thought shaders were some mysterious complicated thing but now I realise they're just what I've been doing all along! Lol. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it :)
