Even Poser users don't like ambient on a skin, I've seen a few threads here over the years complaining about it. With skin in DS you want ambient set to black and 0% strength, unless your doing some wierd alien skin that needs to glow.
For me if they can't come up with a properly done DS MAT preset, then they might as well just give up pretending that they are supporting DS.
In daylight, all skin has a little glow from light passing through and reflecting from it. That's what subsurface scattering is for. Ambient that is very dim can help fake this effect pretty well, especially on skins that aren't super white. PD uses this very effectively with tan and darker-complected characters.
I prefer a full HSS shader, but I will accept a dsa with the default shader when attention has been paid and it renders up well (i.e. not really orange or really dull).

To all the texturers who do! But I have a request to make:
Please don't use the default "skin" shader. This is why your textures are looking orange in DAZ when they're white or very pale in Poser. It's much better to use the default "plastic" setting, then turn the ambient to dark umber and 100% if you want to "fake" SSS without using Human Surface Shader.
