Subject: Poser heaven has arrived?

I have 2 daz studio folders.  the one in my documents folder is the one with the subset folder in it.  It also only has one .dsf file that I can see and it isn't my item of clothing.

The files are located in a folder with an random generated name in My Library!data!auto_adapted. But it is a lot easier to just at the DS4 folder as a runtime. Poser sees no files at all in it (in my case, so it does not hurt)

OK, I moved the DUF file to my Runtime-Libraries-Scenes and used it from there and it all worked.  Worked well in fact!  :)  MUCH easier, thanks for the tip!

Here is V4 Fae Fighting Armor on Genesis, with V4 Shape.

That probably means that it cannot find the accompanying DSF file (the obj file which was created). I had that problem as well because I thought I had put everyting in my Poser Genesis runtime, but apparently the save scene asset puts additional files in the DS4 folder. That is why I said to attach that one as well. Now the converted clothes appear in poser when you load the DSON loader

So, do you know if the DSON Loader then copies those additional files, from your DS4 folder, into the equivalent place in your Poser runtime (or runtime enclosing) folder (as you've installed the Genesis Essentials into)?

Or are you having to leave the DS4 content folder attached?

Many thanks

I tried the DS folder in my applications folder but that didn't help.  Must be the other one in documents but that one didn't l ook like it had any .dsf files.

well I am going to bed. hope someone with a mac comes here and sorts it out.

I will try again tomorrow.

It's very exciting because the clothes looked good in DS

No, it does not copy anything. So keep it attached. You can copy the files as Esther has done, but that means a lot of extra work and potential errors

The DSON loader only loads. It is the Save Scene or Scene subset which saves the duf file to your location. But before that, the autofit has created its own unique dsf file in the DS4 folders to which the DUF file refers

In other words - you have the poser cr2, poser obj in geometries, the dsf in DS4 runtime and the duf file in the poser genesis runtime (or ds4 runtime). The DSON loader loads the duf, the dson importer interpretes the duf, then loads the dsf (and maybe that one goes tot the original poser obj - not sure about that)

I think both are happening monkeycloud. I haven't done it, but I'll be doing it at some point. From what I've been seeing tho, it puts a file in your DS folder and then one in your Poser Genesis folder - the .duf.

Thanks guys

I'll try it later myself too. Now that I've realised I don't need to spend money on the M4 and V4 shapes, M3 and V3 shapes, or the Genesis X stuff, until I get to the point of wanting to transfer more M4 or V4 character morphs... or Gen3 morphs and clothing, perhaps.

I'm just gonna try converting some of my V4 and M4 clothing initially (for which I have the required clone dsf files already)... as it seems all I should need to prepare this content is the latest copy of DS4.5 (which I redownloaded last night).

Cool - well, I hope 😉

For that one above, I just did the steps that Vestmann had, but on #4, just saved "scene subset", did not include Genesis, and saved the DUF to a folder in my Poser Runtime, which I called:

Runtime->Libraries->Character->Clothing->Genesis->Fantasy->Fighting Fae

...all of my clothes I have in this area:

Runtime->Libraries->Character->Clothing->{character}->{category}->{item}

Then in poser, used D3D's script, and then conformed each item to Genesis

I guess I could do it and save it by default in the Daz area, but I am a "one organized runtime" type of guy! :tongue1:

forcing a screen refresh can be tricky. Jiggle the camera or jiggle a morph dial and it should go away. Not visible in the render in any event.

A while back when I was playing with Genesis, I documented the process to get other character morphs to Genesis, using DS Pro only.  I just tried it with DS4.5 and it still works.  I got the Elite Utopian Morph into Genesis (see pic above)

Here are the steps:

  1. Load A3/v3/v4/a4/etc.
  2. Zero Pose
  3. Inject desired Character face/body Injection
  4. Export as OBJ
  5. File -> New
  6. Load A3/v3/v4/a4/etc.
  7. Convert A3/v3/v4/a4/etc. to TriAx WM (do this first to get a single dial, its under like Edit->Rigging)
    8 ) Edit->Figure->Morphloader Pro -> OBJ (created in #4)
  8. Dial in Character morph(which was created in prev step)
  9. Load Genesis
  10. SKIP THIS STEP:  Dial in Genesis corresponding shape (i.e. if A3, this is a purchased item, I believe)
  11. Run Figure Transfer Utility
  • source=[Figure Loaded in #6-9] (use default), target=Genesis (Clone->matching figure), show options, under morph targets, check source morphs...then un-check fit to source figure (you can pretty much uncheck everything else as well)
  1. When complete, Dial In the new Imported morph in Genesis
  2. Dial in any other needed morphs to make the character look right (for example Sylfie needed BrowsGone)
  3. File -> Save As -> Support Asset -> Morph Asset(s); making sure to check only the new morph and any other required morphs done in #14
  4. Reload Genesis and the Morphs should be there

Hope it helps those looking to get their old character morphs!  (note, you need the A3 shapes to get the old A3 clone, I believe)

Okay, I loaded the clothing with DSON importer from D3D, and it came in and conformed, but it doesn't fit properly to my morphed genesis character.

Should I open the morphed genesis character in DS first and then export the autofitted clothes?  I thought the clothes would contain the morphs for genesis anyway.

When I try to open my morphed and saved genesis CR2 in DS it can't import the .obj (which has a really long name)

Just run the "DSON Support -> Transfer active morphs" script in Poser. That should make the clothing fit.

Your character morph looks really nice Esther 😄

The bodysuit too.

I think getting shoes to work, across figures, whether with Wardrobe Wizard, or with this autofit in DS, seems to be one of the real tests, of any automated system?

I'm coming to the conclusion that I really need to learn more about rigging... or at least editing rigging / joint centers etc, in order to get good results, in some areas... like shoes and hair.

Will be interesting to see if the shoes do work better fitted as thigh boots though?

I was using a GenX converted figure which worked fine and then suddenly the genesis figure lost its V4 morph - dial is still there, but the mesh had changed back to neutral. The genX morphs still work. I was changing textures at that time.

Morph is still there in the data folder and not changed. Restarting Poser and reloading the scene does not work. Applying the preset again does not work either. It is only that morph which seem to have gone.

I do have a V4 in the scene, but I had that all the time to compare the figures

I guess it means starting the scene from scratch again, but I think I'll wait until I know what the problem is/was.

When I found PP2012 becoming unresponsive, I looked to see if Multi-Threaded Bending was turned on, and it was, it's best to leave it off if it is off. Also, one service release supercedes the other, so you don't need to install all of them.

I uninstalled PP2012, reinstalled it and only installed SR3.1. It all runs smoothly now. If you constantly overwrite things they could become corrupted.

There is a new version of the DSON Importer plugin that might be of help to folks having the slow/frozen libraries problem. Just reset your download. But be warned: if you are not having any problems with the importer and you install the update, it may actually cause trouble. For me it broke everything that it is supposed to have fixed and I had to go back to the original version. So be sure to have your old installer handy just in case.

I tried Vestmans technique  to load clothing for genesis and I'm sort of lost. I saved a shirt as a scene and a subscene in Daz studio. It did conform the V4 clothing and save the shirt as a duf.  The daz folder structure is so convoluted and redundant I'm not sure where to save it, but i tired  mylibraryscenes then mylibraryruntimelibrariesscene and it doesn't show up in the Poser library.

Anyway, in poser. the shirt does not show up in the scene library or anywhere else. I tried moving the duf to mylibraryruntimelibrariesfigures and that didn't work either.

How does one retrieve the shirt i conformed in Daz studio to load into poser?

You need to right clock on the content library TAB itself - not inside the content library

(And you need to have DS4.5.1.6 (latest version))

Byrdie ( ) posted Fri, 19 October 2012 at 10:54 AM

Word from Daz now is that "if it ain't broke don't fix it." So if you don't already have issues with the slow/frozen library & such then stick with the old version, 1.0.0.9. Because the update doesn't have any other enhancements.

  Would have been nice to know that before I updated. Oh well, at least it's working again for me now.

mikegg ( ) posted Fri, 19 October 2012 at 11:07 AM

Let me check my version, I did click on the Tab. I just downloaded 4.5 , i'll check the version.

Daz studio did remember my settings from a previous install which suprised and troubled me.

Byrdie ( ) posted Fri, 19 October 2012 at 11:13 AM

It also remembered mine ... and I'd uninstalled both 4.0 and the CMS before installing 4.5. Should have been a clean slate, more or less, but it wasn't. That makes me wonder if it's not somehow picking up "leftovers" that are confusing it.

mikegg ( ) posted Fri, 19 October 2012 at 12:28 PM

Yes my daz studio also says there is a duplicate file which I assume is Genesis. I thought it would be a clean slate. Most things work when importing into Poser, except the duf i created for the shirt i saved from Daz Studio.I'm going to install some other content and see if that works.

Maybe my version is old but I just downloaded it this week. hmmm

RHaseltine ( ) posted Fri, 19 October 2012 at 2:49 PM

Duplicate file or Duplicate IDs? The latter is an error thrown by some older content as DS4.0 didn't enforce uniqueness in IDs, and DS 4.5 does. DAZ content should have been updated, or I have a free script (linked from the index thread in my DAZ forum signature) that fixes most content, working on the DS 4.0 files so that they load cleanly in 4.5.

Byrdie ( ) posted Fri, 19 October 2012 at 4:27 PM

I seem to have both. Not sure why. The duplicate IDs usually pop up when I'm loading older stuff from my Poser runtimes, probably because I only updated the things I used only in Studio. Will try the script & see if that helps, I don't get it too often. My problem is more a matter of duplicate files, many with some kind of a scroll/script symbol in the icon's upper left corner, if that tells you anything.

Yes, I am a confused little featherbrain.

mikegg ( ) posted Fri, 19 October 2012 at 9:20 PM

Finally got it to all work except for the duplicate formulas message when I start Daz Studio. To save a clothing file, as said elsewhere, you go to save as, support asset/figure, name the file and then specify a specific type of clothes...whew! Then create poser companion file. Then find where you put it. Yikes.

So I can now load Genesis, load the shirt I saved and autofitted, conform and Presto almost done. Make a change to genesis morphs and then go to dson support and transfer morphs with genesis selected. Each time you change a morph you need to transfer the morphs, but only one time for each... it remembers which you add/modified.

So can I then add many morphs and then save the shirt again. Will it remember all the morphs I added? hmmm, I'll have to try it.

I really just wanted to prove I counld do it. It is cool that there is almost no poke through and it takes all poses and morphs. It's also great that Genesis takes all V4 materials.

Well the next step is to convert figure morphs from V4 to genesis. I'll leave taht for another day.

I have to say that genesis bends really well, much better than V4. I haven't compared it to V4 WM yet. I don't mind the limits...yet.

Mike

Daz Studio is a 'dirty' app, even if you uninstall everything, lots of stuff is left behind, in the registry and the 'Applications' folder.

the only way to get a totally clean install is to manually delete all relevent entries in your registry, and also delete any files left in the 'Applications' folder.

preferences are usually found in the 'Applications' folder ,  serial registry etc is in the Windows registry

That's an error from having a very old set of the morphs - if you reset and reinstall the affected morph sets (they are listed in the DS FAQ thread on the DAZ forums, but as I recall it's the Evolution morphs, Anubis and possibly some or all of the iconic shapes sets) it will go away.

DSON Install Question

I have PP2012 in a location other than on C>Program Files

What are the steps need to makeDSON Work?

A. Install DSOn to my PP2012

B. Install 14812_GenesisStarterEssentialsPoserCF_1.6_dpc to PP2012 Runtime

C. Do I also need to install 14812_GenesisStarterEssentials_1.6_trx to my PP2012 Runtime?

I tried the above and while a Genesis Figure from the Essentials was loading, it crashed PP2012. It did it every time.

Any guidance appreciated.

I never use DS or Genesis, but it would be nice to get it to work with PP2012 SR3.1

IK is not supported for genesis in Poser

Not really sure why, but it probably has to do with missing "real" body parts and a similar limitation as not being able to make a bodypart invisible via the parameter window
