Hi to all.

I'm very confused about product requirements.  I need a black skinned female character, but all of the ones I can find, such as :

seem to require the V4 base and Morphs++.  I am using DAZ 4 and Genesis with V4 and M4 Shapes installed, but I do not own the V4 Base or Morphs++.  Am I correct in assuming that the above produce and ones like it - even though they are advertised as being "for Genesis" - will not work without the V4 Base and Morphs++?  If that's the case, does anyone have any recommendations for a black female character?  I'd love to buy the one above, but I fear I'm having to buy all of this additional V4 support for a product that's billed as "for Genesis".

You can use the skins on Genesis, but you will have to make your own morph.

As stated, V4 and M4 textures are supported by default when using Genesis.  As far as morphs, there's the option of using a Genesis specific character such as P3D's Carmen (http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/p3d-carmen/93086) or using any number of morph packs ranging from Daz3D's Evolution for Genesis or the free DieTrying set over at ShareCG.  Currently maintaining a resource thread over at Daz's forums for a lot of stuff: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/368/

V4 and M4 simply have a lot more options by sheer virtue of being around longer than Genesis though more is coming out over time.

Glancing at things, Shayana does have options for Genesis.  It's the user's choice on Genesis or V4 since she has different morphs and options for both.

You could also trasfer V4 morphs with Gen X for DAZ Studio. I's in the DAZ store. It's not free but works quite good most of the time

As ZamuelNow said, the Shayana character you linked to contains options for Genesis and V4. 

The V4 and Morphs ++ are required for the V4 version while the Genesis Evolution Morphs and Genesis V4 Shapes are requried for the Genesis version. 

The Genesis skins/MATs should work fine on Genesis without needing any additional shapes, but if you want to get the look of the promos, you'll need to buy and install the Genesis Evolution Morphs and Genesis V4 Shapes packs :)
