All with the sun guess that makes it distance...
Not really. The Sun is a light of its own. It's placed in the scene using the Distant light but it has a very different effect on the scene than using a distant light. DLs should be avoided all the time, they just give terrible results.
Cheers.

Quote - Thank you very much, Doctorjellybean. That worked. Hmm, I guess Lux doesn't understand English language requirements. That is, No, as the abbreviation for Number, should be followed with a period: No., not No
This seems to be a no-no for Lux. :D
The period, like the "" and the ":" are reserved characters when it comes to file names.

Quote - Hi guys.. (yes, I am still alive)
My first image I made in 3 months.. Not sure if this is the beginning of a new series or that it is the end of something.
Hope you like my 'Hazy Day'.
The Queen is back!
Hi Charley, good to see you again :)

Quote - I think I got nice renders using the sun. Thats because I used to combo of the DL & sky fill in..
Yes, the sun ican be a great light, my comment was about DLs, the sun is not considered a DL. I mean, it is definitely "distant" from us but the way it's rendered in Lux is different from the standard DL.
Cheers.

Its cool here is another render using the sun. I just wish that a variety of realitic looking sky maps would somehow be included. In reality 3 perhaps? Its kinda funny yesterday I tried rendering my 1st 3Delight render in 9 months after I thought a hair style was not working well in Reality (figured it out afterwards) 3Delight really does not give the same results even with adjusting materials.
Latest render fresh out of the oven. skin got a bit washed out. seemed like i had to get the lights harsher than what i normally set them at in order to get the shadows on the wall like i wanted to. on the plus side.. the latex material i used on the pants seemed to come out nicer than what I expected.

that worked pretty well, nice one.
I am interested in the horse, but I don't do enough horse renders to justify the price, waiting for fast grab down the line, LOL.

I agree, I like using the sun, but if i include a sky map of my own, the sky setting can wash it out if turned up to high.
I am really hoping reality 3 for DS will have more material and lighting options.

Another question: is it possible to create a lens flare in Reality/Lux? Typically seen when using a projector. If yes, how?
Sky2 has the same parameters as sky. It's a different and more accurate/realistic model.
Lens flare is created by the action of light on the elements in a photographic lens.It depends on lens type, number of elements, focal length and the usual other parameters.
So, no easy way of getting Lux to do lens flare.
Thats my point the cloudless sky is not quite ralistic at times. There is SOR by DT but you need to add a mash for shadows the sun seems to produce better ones. The way im doing it now is render the scene without the sky as an alpha then add a BG for the sky from some nice skies from LDP2 I had saved.

IBL, one lightbulb converted to meshlight (top), one spotlight (front-face/torso) and one big meshlight (behind camera).Turned out different then I had in mind.. (like it almost always does..)

Very nice! I love all your renders, and you are the Queen when it comes to portraits and stockings. But there is something about these stockings that I can't put my finger on, that feels a bit off to me.

I doubt your fingers are intended to be anywhere near those stockings.

Charley, wonderful . . . again. ;-) I absolutely love women's stockings and pantyhose, and you are a master at rendering them. Makes me quite jealous that I can't get this kind of result in my renders . . . but as long as you keep making these, I'll keep trying.

You mean a IBL map? If so then you are simply overexposing the scene, it's not a matter of adding light types. You need to lower the contrast ratio between the lights and then set the exposure.
Cheers.

Quote - The Sky2 model is more realistic than Sky. Needs manual editing of the lxm file, basically changing "Sky" to "Sky2" in the definition.
Yeah but it's a marginal thing, it's not dramatically different.

You could try modeling a lens, setting it to glass and then placing it in front of the camera.

It's all a matter of size of the light. Make the meshlight small enough and distant enough and you will get the same type of sharp shadows. Sizxe the mesh light to 3% for a starter.

I love the emotions on their faces, the pose. No words needed, the image tells the story. Very nice!

That recreated the files and lux finds them when it starts, but he still has a white face.
I used the the refine brush to add importance on his face and going to let it go a while to see if it just needs to re-render that area. If there's no change in the next 30 minutes I'll restart the whole thing.
