Subject: OT- The truth about Santa Claus

EClark1894 ( ) posted Wed, 12 December 2012 at 9:26 AM · edited Tue, 11 February 2025 at 11:15 AM

So your worst fears have come true and now your little crumbsnatchers have found your christmas gift hiding places. They're wondering why you have their presents in your closet when Santa is supposed to bring them on Christmas Eve. Have no fear, just tell the the truth about Santa. He's getting old and it's not realistic for him to be making all those deliveries to children all over the world in just one night. You don't want to kill him, do you? So here's the deal. Santa now ships the toys out early to most houses where the parents then hide the presents until Christmas eve.

See? The truth will set you free!

Santa just brings things like guns you'll shoot your eye out with.  Didn't you ever see A Christmas Story?

WARK!

Thus Spoketh Winterclaw: a blog about a Winterclaw who speaks from time to time.

You point a gun at your eye, and you deserve to have it shot out.

So are you saying Santa now just uses Amazon, to cut down on his own warehousing and logistics issues?

He's sold the base at the North Pole and can do everything via a laptop from the Bahamas?

It Rudolph, Prancer, etc... and the elves I feel sorry for...

;-)

Not at all.  Santa still delievers, just not in one night, but over a couple of weeks in advance. That's why kids may find their presents in their parents closets several days before Christmas.

Ah, good to hear the old fashioned methods still persist.

Presumably this also still explains the occassional sound of sleigh bells outside in the run up to Christmas...

...and I guess there is still scope for a present repossession clause, in case of naughtiness, post present stash discovery :-)

santa got wind of a reindeer strike on xmas eve, so he shipped out all of the special presents with fedex and ups to make sure they arrived on time. The reindeer unions are currently in negotiation with Santa over more favourable working hours and fringe benefits. Dasher has insisted all reindeer are given fringes on their halters. Comet wants the working year reduced from 6 hours to 5, with a 1 hour lunch and free staff uniform.

When I was a kid maybe 10 my neighbors did not put up a tree.
My cousin was dating one of there girls.
So he brought her a present terribly wrapped in 3 or 4 defrent kinds of wrapping paper some looked like for birthdays, walks in ,looks around and goes.
I'll just put the present next to this plant.
Me & my friends laughed till it hurt.

We thought santa was the dude that ran the junk yard.
Around xMas he would let us get all the bicikle parts we could carry for free.
This was the days you could get a pack of smokes for trading in enough glass sota bottles.

regarding thomas nast in new york, he'd been pillorying boss tweed until re-educated AFAIK, after which he produced saccharine images in re: "father xmas",  thus promoting the commercial concept of linking christmas with sales by retail groups in the states.  tweed's group may have been corrupt, but it became legit with the nast campaign.

I tell the grandkids that Santa is related to Doctor Who and can travel through time. Thats how come he can deliver all the presents in one day and gives the impression he's everywhere at once. Which also nicely solves that tricky problem of when out shopping they ask, how come theres more than one Santa. To explain a slipping Santa beard, whisper to them that Santa is actually a baldie and uses reindeer poo to stick his beard on! Just not in Marks and Spencer or they'll chuck you out:)

My daughter found out the truth about Santa the morning after she saw him. :). She was about 7 and our son already knew. We set it up so that she would see Santa (her dad borrowed the school's costume) from the stairs. It was so convincing she thought she was going to throw up from the adrenaline. :) I think both of my kids had about 7 years of believing in Santa. Now that they're teenagers I miss that.
