Subject: How to make a mirror in DAZ

Prof_Null ( ) posted Mon, 31 December 2012 at 8:22 PM · edited Wed, 22 January 2025 at 11:17 PM

I want to create a mirror surface: how do I do that or do I need to cheat and use an image tex instead?

Thanks folks and Happy new year too!

It's pretty easy, just select the object you want to use as a mirror in the surfaces tab. make sure whatever you want reflected is in position.

Under advanced tab, change diffuse colour to black or whatever you want, set reflection to white, strength, you'll have to play but about 55-65%.

Also check the basics tab a to make sure the highlight colour is white.
This is for DS3 + not sure if Daz 4 works the same.  Hope this helps

For future reference folks, here is what works in DS4:

(Courtesy Bloody Roses design site - thanks for the link ZamuelNow!)

DS4 mirror settings-

Diffuse: Color 192-192-192 (grey)
Strength 0%
Specular: Glossiness 99%
Color: 255-255-255
Strength 100%
Multiply thru Opacity ON
Ambient: Color 0-0-0 (black)
Strength 100%
Opacity: Strength 100%
Reflection: Color 255-255-255
Strength 100%
Refraction: Color 255-255-255
Strength 0%
Index of refraction  0                <----------------- I think this one is crucial!
Lighting Model: Plastic(?)

Thanks to all

Hey Cimarron, are you anywhere near my neighbourhood?

Index of refraction shouldn't matter - if it did, 1 is no effect rather than 0.
