Subject: Best Blender Forum?

megalodon ( ) posted Mon, 14 January 2013 at 9:34 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 10:13 AM

Which Blender forum is the most active? I ask because I have NO idea and would like to know. We may end up hiring a number of CG animators, and while we currently use Lightwave I would like to (possibly) move towards Blender. Which forum - in your opinion - has the widest variety of skilled artists?

Thanks in advance!

thats about as ponited and opinion based as what program is the best

every person has their own specialty and methods and versions and they tend to stay close to similar minds

if you are looking for examples of what blender artists can do check blendswap or the user submissions on cgcookie

im pretty sure that there are some good modelers here that run blender only but most of the real hardcore users work elsewhere and stay to themselves

you could youtube search blender animations  ive found a few good ones

i dont do animations because i only work with hard body meshes

there are those here that are way better at animating in blender than i am so lets see where the dice land

Third that vote. It's probably the busiest forum for Blender, certainly. The threads on Cycles are simply mind-boggling.

This is great!

Thank you ALL for your input - it is MUCH appreciated.

I don't know what route we'll eventually be taking - going with Lightwave and/or Blender - but at least I have an excellent starting point.

Again, thank you!

"The use of AI models like ChatGPT in people-to-people online forums can be concerning. AI lacks emotional understanding and this undermines the genuine human connection and empathy that these platforms aim to foster. While AI can provide quick responses, it lacks the authenticity and support of human interaction. Striking the right balance between AI and human involvement is crucial for creating a more empathetic and reliable online forum environment. It's important to recognize the limitations of AI and ensure human moderators or participants are actively engaged. This helps improve the overall quality of interactions and contributes positively to online communities."

Full disclosure, above is an AI response.  Apologies to Alexzj if the words in his post above are his own but it doesn't read like a human response.  It is a sad day when human to human discussion in online forums gets replaced with AI to AI.

Sure does!

I would assume that's a temporary thing tho. Sever failure/migration/upgrade, DDOS/hack, something. I just received their standard newsletter this afternoon. I can't imagine, even tho CG Society is a shell of what it once was, it'd be going offline anytime soon, at least not without more fanfare.

Actually, now it appears to be back up.
