Poser Python Scripting F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 05 6:41 am)

We now have a ProPack Section in the Poser FreeStuff.
Check out the new Poser Python Wish List thread. If you have an idea for a script, jot it down and maybe someone can write it. If you're looking to write a script, check out this thread for useful suggestions.

Also, check out the official Python site for interpreters, sample code, applications, cool links and debuggers. This is THE central site for Python.

You can now attach text files to your posts to pass around scripts. Just attach the script as a txt file like you would a jpg or gif. Since the forum will use a random name for the file in the link, you should give instructions on what the file name should be and where to install it. Its a good idea to usually put that info right in the script file as well.

Subject: Python Script Request for Poser Pro Pack

I'd like to see three new scripts made... Prop Clipboard... so you can copy a prop and paste it... Magnet Mirror... so you can place magnets on one fore arm for example and make them mirror to the other fore arm with the same settings. Morph Mirror... so you can just create morphs for half a file and mirror them to the other half. Am I asking for something too complex... heck I'd gladly pay for them in a package similar to the MK scripts that Daz just posted last week. Thanks, Doug

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

The magnet mirror would be doable. The prop clipboard supposedly can be since you can copy geometries. The Morph Mirror probably can't. MTs require exact vertex information in the exact order the mesh is created. I know the characters are not perfectly symetrical so MTs mirrored to the right arm from the left probably won't work.

Actually, there is a way to do the morph mirroring. If the character is symmetrical or near symmetrical (which requires a long explanation) then there is a very simple brute force way of mirroring the morph. Daz has been using my script for this for a number of projects and now that the V2 clothes pack is done I may go ahead and wrap a GUI on the script and put it out for everyone. It would have been out sooner but we ran into an "issue" in the Poser Pro Pack that was causing a massive ( it ate my 512 MB system) memory leak. I now have a work around for the problem and will see about getting it out. CL was informed of the "issue" and is investigating it.

That sounds, great, jbrujoin.... I would LOVE to see it available.
