... this:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that Jessi?

I wonder if she is being used with permission, since they want you to register and pay to download it.

It appears to be just a render showing human dimensions as used in drawing etc.

All the best.

They're using a 3D character for human references?

rokket ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2013 at 8:54 AM

They also have a few very low quality drawings there, I believe for manga or other toon type modeling. It just strikes me funny that they are using Jessi as a reference.

It looks to me like they're trying to sell that image, not the figure :).

As Laurie said, it looks like they are trying to sell an image of Jessi. Nothing wrong with that. Whether or not you think an image of Jessi is is worth paying for is up to you, but anyone who acquired Poser legally is allowed to sell images of the Poser figures that they produce.

Thanks for the education. Just struck me funny, that's all.

I gotta agree with Rokket, using Jesse does seem a bit, (being charitable) laughable.

It's so much cheaper to use a render than pay for a real person to pose.

All it appears to be showing is the usual how many heads go into human proportions etc. when drawing.

All the best.

Or easier than find somebody who wants to pose and has the 'official' generic average proportions. I never met the average person, and I do not know if one exists. Then, there is a choice either to make a real photo and scale the head, legs or body to fit the measurements, or use what clearly is an avatar. The intention of the image is to show the average proportions system, and for that Jessi is as good as any other figure.

Most (adult) people fit those average proportions. Once in a while you'll find someone strangely mis-shapen, (like Jessi, or vicky), but for the most part, everyone is 7.5 heads tall - that is, whatever their head size is, times 7.5. It all ties in to the golden ratio: 1.618

Kids don't fall into the 7.5 rule. They are different depending on age. I think todlers are 4 heads and young teens are around 6, but the golden ratio still applies to them most of the time.
