Gentlemen, we can rebuild her. We have the technology !

Not really sure why I actually weightmapped V3 as SP3 was always my favorite DAZ woman.

But as SP3 shares 99% of her joints with David and I already had lots of teen/kids figures so no need for a weightmapped Luke/Laura, I guess I was just curious to see how much life was left in Granny.  ;-)

Turns out she's still a fighter. That means she was fighting me all the way during the re-rig. Lol.

Especially her "derrier" was quite hard to get under control but I finally managed it thanks to some hardcore bulge-mapping. No more exploding buttocks or collapsing thighs. After that the rest was quite easy.

So, here goes:

Victoria-3 Weightmapped.

THIS IS A POSER 9/PP-2012 ONLY FIGURE ! It will not work in older versions of Poser or any version of Studio.
The new cr2 is RTE encoded so you have to own Victoria-3 to use it.

Instructions where to download RTE-Decoder and how to decode the file are included.
THIS IS NOT A BEGINNERS FIGURE.

She can pose, morph, and wear V3 clothes just like standard Vicky-3, but there will be pokethrough in more extreme poses.
The best solution would be to transfer her weightmaps over to the clothing but the clothing most likely will need further refinemant with the joint editor.

If you don't know how/don't want to bother with fixing clothing, I suggest to use the legacy Vicky-3 shape for GENESIS instead.
I weightmapped Vicky-3 as good as I could so I'm not looking for critical feedback. I rather encourage you to fix what you think needs fixing and re-share the results again so she can improve over time.

As long as you keep the ReadMe attached and re-encode the results to protect DAZ' intellectual property, you are welcome to re-share Vicky3-WM.
I made her for myself because I wasn't happy how Genesis currently works in Poser and the SM-offerings were not really an alternative.

I'm only one person and my energy and time are limited, so all I can give to you is a starting point.
Wether she will become more is now up to you.

As I said, feel free to improve her and re-share the results.

The download includes a new cr2 file with improved joints, instructions to decode the RTE file and the poses I created for the demo render above.

Enjoy !

And remember that the new Poser scaling adds a lot of flexibility to any mesh:

These two weightmapped V3s are just dialspins using the DAZ default body and headmorphs.

No custom ZBrush morphs. Not even magnets. Just some creative dialspinning and scaling. (No animated joint centers, either)

Oh nice. Is the scaling as powerful as moving the joint centers? And clothing follows the scaling too right? We should really have something like morphing clothes built-in. One click solution with instant feedback and without requiring additional cr2s.

Many thanks for the kind words. Glad you like my work.

Btw, remember V4toV3 ? That came free with V4 ?

It's a V4 that is shaped and rigged like V3 so she can use V3's clothing.

I had to re-smooth the weightmaps, but all in all the new rigging transferred over from V3WM quite well.

She can only use V4's head morphs because of the different grouping, but you could use MorphingClothes to transfer V3's bodymorphs over to her.

Thank you so much for this!  Just a quick question.  Do I need to download V3 again since my version is probably old and that's why the decoding doesn't work?

JoePublic ( ) posted Sat, 02 March 2013 at 4:15 PM

"Do I need to download V3 again since my version is probably old and that's why the decoding doesn't work?"

From what I recall DAZ issued at least three different versions of V3 over the years: V3, V3 Sr1 and V3 SAE.

I decoded against the blMilWom_v3.obj file that came with V3 SAE, the newest version of V3.

You also made sure to use blMilWom_v3.obj and not blMilWom_v3.obz ?

Kalypso ( ) posted Sat, 02 March 2013 at 5:01 PM

Although I had V3 SAE upon resetting my download and trying again it worked so DAZ might have updated that too at some point.   My David obj was up to date but I haven't used V3 in a very long time.   That's bound to change now  thanks to you :)

"Is there a Vanessas character available for Poser 6 without weight-mapping?  I never seen this kid before.  Looks the most human as far as Poser kid models go."

I just made her to demonstrate V3WM's flexibility.

Glad you like her, but Vanessa uses a lot of single-axis scaling which was radically changed in Poser 9/PP 2012 Sr2.

So, sorry, she won't work properly in any older version of Poser.

momodot ( ) posted Sun, 03 March 2013 at 1:59 AM

What does single axis scaling mean in this case?

JoePublic ( ) posted Sun, 03 March 2013 at 2:38 AM

file_492204.jpg

"What does single axis scaling mean in this case?"

Scaling across one axis only. Or scaling each axis differently.

For Example making her shoulders wider by scaling the collars and chest along the x-axis. Making her legs longer and slimmer by scaling the y-axis up but the z- and x-axis down.

The neck is also very tricky. To match the much larger head, it's scaled across the x and z axis. But this distorts the neck so it's compensated for with the "neck-thin" morph.

Picture shows how much scaling is involved in the final figure.

(Remember this is a 100% DAZ-morphs only dial spin, so it's not as well-finished as the custom morphs I usually do)

momodot ( ) posted Sun, 03 March 2013 at 3:06 AM

You have no idea how educational that last post is for me. Your analytical approach to scaling must be second nature to you but this explication is facinating to me. It is much more clear to me now what was wrong with my aproach to replicating your examples!! Thank you :)

foxylady1 ( ) posted Sun, 03 March 2013 at 8:46 AM

Joe, you are amazing.  Thank you!  I use V3 alot, and this is great.  Have you given any thought to M4 and M3?  Just asking in case you were on a roll with weight mapping.

Someone asked if you could upload the freebies here, is that not an option for you?
