Subject: Mat poses screw up clothes - HELP!

I ran into a weird problem. I've been making mat poses for my new Olympian clothing textures, but when I was testing them I noticed that the mat poses change the posing of the clothes. When I apply the first mat pose, the dress moves a little, the next pose moves it a little more... until the whole dress is screwed up. And I made the mat poses just like I've always made them... What on earth am I doing wrong?

Try doing everything in the default position.

also try using the body setting on the clothing

Had the same problem .Bought some textures for the olympian-dress with matposes.Everytime i used one of them the same happened as it happens to you. I mailed the to DAZ ( bought the textures there, think the were done by dmentia)and got the answer, that there is noway to avoid it

Hmm I guess I just have to include a readme file which tells people that they need to apply the material before conforming the figure... that's the only way the mat poses seem to work without distorting the clothes...

I may not know MAT poses really well, but I don't seem to have that problem. I tested several of my MAT poses on one of my dresses, and the dress didn't move. It may be Vicki, since I only make things for Posette (the one in the image is Vicki2P4). Are you sure you don't have something in your MAT pose that shouldn't be there? If you would like, I could email you one of my MAT poses so you could see where the difference is.

I only had the prob with the olympian dress,so I think its not a viccyprob. And i dont know why it happend. And Eowyn, what you say applying the matpose first seems the only solution .

Yep, I've never had any problems with MAT poses either, it seems to be only the Olympian dress. Oh well :-)

when I have this problem, I use Edit Restore Figure, make sure clothing is select, even after I have posed, and decide to change texture using .mat, Edit Restore Figure and it doesn't mess with my pose just takes away the problem the .mat just caused.. this works for me everytime.

Hey, that works perfectly!!!! Thank you SO much mysticwinter! :-))

Heya, I don't know if this will help but someone can try it. If the clothes are actually being reposed than the best solution is probably the one mysticwinter suggested. There is a possiblity that the clothes only appear to be moving. Er, well sort of. I don't know exactly why it happens other than it has something - I think - to do with IK, but anyhow, I have experienced situations where I have applied a pose to a conforming object or even another figure that happens to be parented to another figure and have one (or more of my other figures in the scene) seemingly affected or moved by the pose. However, if I do a screen refresh or say use the animation frame control to move the scene forward and then back a frame the figure(s) affected will immediately resume their correct pose. It may be that this is all that is happening when you apply the mat file and that upon rendering or refreshing the screen the scene will right itself. Just a thought.

Glad it worked for you Eowyn... Shadownet, got a point, just tried what you said, the render / refresh, did not work it self out, however, turning off all IK allowed .mat to be applied and there was no movement in the clothing..

Interesting. Thanks for the feedback mysticwinter, I am sure as more and more MAT poses get used we will see more and more problems along this line and you may have just saved us a lot of grief if we can work around the issue by turning IK off.
