Thank you FSMCDesigns, the eagle lamp is my favourite, I've named it Eddie.

John the lamps look great!  I really admire you and any who create props, clothing, lights, ect.

I have been dealing with an illness and my creativity has gone down the drain. If it hadn't been for Callad allowing me to test the new light set she is working on I probably wouldn't be rendering.  We just got a new version of the light set to test and this is one of my renders with using the mesh light and Gel light.

~Reality Light System~

Freebie to support the 3D community members that use Daz Studio, Paolo's fabulous REALITY plug-in and  wonderful render engine Luxrender.

For use with: Daz Studio, Reality plug-in, Luxrender.

This set replaces my freebies: Callad's MeshLights, Callad's Projectors and Callad's GELS.

With this set you will be able to use MeshLights in a way you have never done before.

Each light in this set can be easily positioned by using the camera it is attached to. You can also use the camera to see where the light is going to be in your scene.

Another feature is that I have made all big meshlights 50% transparent. This way you can always see your scene, even if a meshlight is in view of your camera.

If your camera sees only the back of the meshlight, Luxrender will NOT show the meshlight at all in your render! You can use this feature to create very close-up lighting.

With this set you get 22.260.500.000 illumination possibilities for your scene with each seperate Gel-Cam!

What's new in this set:

 - Added support for the Universal tool.

 - Re-designed Softbox with Gobo & extendable snoot.

 - Softbox can be scaled to strip box.

 - 30 Gobo presets.

 - Shape presets can now all be used on both Projectors and Gel-Cams.

 - Gel-Cams now have double GEL and SHAPE masks.

 - Meshlights are 50% transparent (does not affect performance in Luxrender).

 - Added several shape presets.

 - You can access The Official Reality for Daz Studio Forum from your Content Library.

 - You can access the 22 pages on-line Guide from your Content Library.

 - You can access the on-line Update Journal from your Content Library.

 - Added metadata for Daz Studio.

My special thanks go out to my testing-team without whom this set would have numerous bugs and no metadata!

If you like this set then please drop me a comment since I love to read them! :)

The set can be dowloaded at ShareCG (see link at the top of my original post)

I am looking for some help.  I have no idea what I did.  After adding some additional props and tweaking settings I hit render for like the 9th time.  Only this time her eyes are white.  They were rendering just fine.  I didn't change my lighting.   I've reloaded the eyes themselves, moved the eyes around, changed the pose, unchecked architectural since creating the screenshots.  I don't know why her eyes are white.

In the screenshot is an image rendered in Daz showing the placement of the eyes.  Then a very fuzzy iamge in Reality, and then the Cornea setting. The model is London by Danae

Any help would be appriecated I'm sure I'm missing something simple.

John.. I'd gladly volunteer to test; but, finally.. after 4 years of marriage(today's our anniversary) the wife and I can afford to take off for a belated honeymoon.  Tomorrow morning we're heading out of here(michigan) and going to visit my dad in Nashville, then further south to dip our toes into the Gulf of Mexico at Pensacola(even though the march water temps there are near arctic) and then head back home.  We're, also, going to stop through and say "hi" to a few friends of mine in Huntsville, AL.  Long road trip with nearly no goals at all except spending some "couple-time," taking a ton of pics with my new dslr and getting away from our 5 heathens.  I'll have the laptop along so will be able to check in from time to time.

At the moment it is only DS4.5. I am starting up my old pc to see if I have an installer for DS3 to see if I can get it to work on DS3 too. Not sure if I can find the installer though...

@ pobble

bad news.. I found an old installer of DS3 and create a scene and saved it. The old .daz and .dsa formats do not make any sense to me. Since I manually edited large portions of the .duf files to make them do what I wanted with my RLS I am pretty sure I won't be able to do that with the old file formats.

Also I am not exactly 'jumping with joy' when I think of re-building the same set in an older format. I would take weeks, if not, months.

I want to say I respect your wish to stay with DS3, it's clearly something 'strong', since I heard it from others too. So what I write here below is in NO way an attack on your choice, it only tells you how I work. :)

I myself always stop using the old software as soon as I read in comments / posts that the new software is (somewhat) stable.

In life there is no going back, only going forward imho. Standing still and not willing to change IS going back, since the others are going forward. At some point in time you will find yourself too far back to catch up.

'New' isn't always 'better', I know that too. 'New' can be nice when new features are presented. But 'new' also applies to learning. Learning how to handle the new software can be a pain in the butt.

Things you could do with your eyes closed in the old software now takes re-learning, searching for the right buttons, searching to get your workspace organized so you can swiftly work in it. Searching for a new workflow sometimes too.

We are people. We are what we are. We tend to want to keep things 'as they are', we don't want to change. But you know what? Even then we change, if we want or not.

Who can say that in his/her life nothing has changed in the past 10 years? I think nobody can. With software it goes much, much faster. So don't fight it. Embrace it.

Sorry for going way OT :)

I also think 3 is better but they are too many things I depend on, like face genning. I like some of the flexibility Genesis and weight mapping offer more ease of working with clothing & shapes. Needless to say to keep up with Reality/ Lux

JV-Andrew ( ) posted Wed, 27 March 2013 at 4:51 PM

Yeah, I couldn't go back to not using Genesis - it's so quick and easy to customise, but it's horses for courses I suppose... just wow at my awesomeness and I'll pretend it's got nothing to do with technological advancements that I didn't invent but happily exploit :)

Many thanks for this outstanding product.  One note for your First Time Use file:  For Mac OS users, the relatively inexpensive Mac application WinZip Mac ($29.95, free to try) does merge content in the Finder.  It also allows text and image preview and directed Save As... saving.

Another suggestion/point:  Just as you show the Windows path/file name, the corresponding Mac pathname looks like this:

I do not normally comment on such things, but I just spotted a new video tutorial and it costs more than the actual application, strange.

The lamp set is being tested now, Kim found a minor mistake which I have put right. I think the evil Doc is looking at it to (he's helping me learn how to package my props correctly).

I thought that was odd as well I have other opinions but will reserve them in the spirit of avoiding more conflict for Paolo...
