Nothing wrong with the packaging :)
Quote - Also an image I made using the set. Used one CurvedLight and two MeshSpots from my set.
Very, very nice!
Happy Easter to all Reality users!
I won't be around until the beginning of May, folks. My father passed away unexpectedly earlier this week, therefore I'll be returning home for the funeral, etc.
Quote - You got to love it when Angelina Jolie Scarlett Johansson & Penny are all part of your cast...
Does that mean you adhere to the Penny Runtime Agreement (PRA)?
Penny could be on the phone to her lawyers at this moment. Or worse, rounding up some friends to pay you a visit.
Bought some new stuff over the weekend, so as per the terms of the PRA...
I'm in serious trouble with Reality.... my computer just bogs down with it. Even after restarting to log out all other users, only having Daz and the render going it takes aaaaggggeeeessss.....
I know it's my current computer spec. I'm only running a Dual core (3.2ghz) with 3 Gb ram....
So, if you're happy with your render times, do you want to shout out your spec? I'm looking to get a new motherboard/processor bundle, but not sure what yet. (Though it's heading towards AMD, Intel chips are coo costly for the performance comparison IMO)
Look forward to finding out more from you guys!
Cheers!
Mike
When you starve with a tiger, the tiger starves last.
I upgraded from a 32bit Core 2 Duo to a 64bit i7-2500 about 1 year ago. My new PC is pretty minimal for Reality. I get reasonable results in I think reasonable time.
RAM will cap the size of render you can run. The biggest I've run is 12GB.
My PC is an i7-2500 3.2 Ghz with 16GB of fast fast ram. I use a SSD for my main PC drive, and a super fast secondary drive for my library and games.
Initially I had a stock fan in the PC, but it started to sound like a weazing old man when a render started, and I tend to run them over night. It was loud and kept waking me up. I upgraded to a water cooler in preparation for one render, and overall the PC is louder but quieter when I'm rendering.

The other upgrade was a NVidia Ti560 with 2GB of RAM. Its been a champ for games, and you need more ram if you want to try video card rendering. (Check out Octane.)

I do love AMD processors a lot better than Intel chips.
I have an AMD quad core with 8GBs of RAM (I am going to upgrade to 16GBs soon). I'm using an Gigabyte motherboard and NVidia graphics card.....It replaced my Radeon graphics card a few months ago. I did see an improvement in render times switching to a better graphic cards too.
Normally I have one render running...firefox open....daz studio and crazybump open ....and I can still watch a movie without anything lagging.
I have a render running right now with Urban future 4 and 3 robots using an HDRI for lighting and it should be done in about a total of 6 hours. Which is a lot better than my old system. I think I set a record with one Reality render taking about 98 hours
Now that the desklamps are finished I'm back to my never ending room project, needed a book shelf to store my workflow collection, and added bookends just to keep things tidy :)

I get resonable times with my i7 8G machine I am going to change to win 8 soon. If I dont like I still will have my win 7 recovery to fall back on. I thought Nvidia cards did not work well with Reality / Lux looks like this is not the case...Anyhoo some new stuff
Quote - Charley, Another suggestion/point: Just as you show the Windows path/file name, the corresponding Mac pathname looks like this:
"/Users/MrWizard1024/Documents/DAZ 3d/Studio/My Library/Lights/Reality Light System/DSP7-P100C-SP.IES"
...where, of course, everyone would substitute their username for MrWizard1024 in the string above.
Thanks again,
MrWizard1024
Thank you for your suggestions MrWizard! I have no knowledge of Mac whatsoever so I am depending on what others tell me.
Someone told me that since Mountain Lion you can use the Alt key when you drag/drop.
...I have NO clue what a Mountain Lion is, accept for it being a beautiful animal... :)
Quote - Used Charley's SoftBox for the first time, its handy having the message reminding me to choose a mat file, us oldies need all the help we can get.

Very nice work! IRL you could send me to the rubberfarm withing a week if I had that wallpaper though. ;)
Yeah, why did ya think I made the reminder to load a MAT file? I'm 25+ too ya know.. ;)

Hey!! Where did you get a Daz Studio Manual? ;)
Great image and I agree with Charlie on the wallpaper.

OT - A while back someone was asking how to use D-formers I just found an excellent video on this. Thought I would share.Content Advisory! This message contains nudity

"Sylvia her Bed"Used a Sun (edited Sky out from the Luxrenderfile) IBL from HDRLABS.com and A MeshSpot from my Reality Light System.
Quote - I know its been touched on before; but, I'm considering upgrading to Windows 8. Was wondering if anyone here has been rendering successfully in win8 and what, if any, issues they were experiencing.
Funny you mention that I am sending my notebook for servicing (par for the course when you constantly render with one) when it comes back I am going to 8. I will still have my win 7 recovery should it be a problem it will have the added win 7 style start menu.
Bob.. I ran the upgrade assistant that's on microsoft's site. The only real issue I found is that I use autocad 2012 for school and its incompatible. I can still go to autocad 2013 and just downsave my stuff when I have to take it to work on the school computers. Other than that, it says that daz studio is compatible and luxrender is linked on the windows8 applications website. Hopefully, I'll find no issues with it playing nice with Reality.

Used one of Callad's curved mesh lights for this plus one sun from the outside....tried to convey a vintage feel for this one. Rendo wouldn't let me add Pret-A-3D as a credit for this one for some reason....used Snapseed for effects post render......hope you like.....
Quote - > Quote - > Quote - OT I have been posting slidershows of my "family" edited versions of my stories on youtube not sure if these nomnations are from ppl or staff but I'll take it
April fools LOL
I sensed something was "off", so I didn't comment sticks out tonque :P
Mmmm don't know what to make of that.......
Used Callad's curved light and an IBL I found on -

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on the set Callad sorted so they work with DS/Reality, I had the zip but lost it somewhere.
Just got a note from Kim telling me the lights are good to go (thanks Kim), please be patient while I get my act together - they'll be realy soooooon :) First time I tried it, but I've uploaded a ASCI shader for the lava lamp which you might like.
Bit quiet around here lately, where is everyone ?
Wonderful image John! Also congratulations on your granddaughter her 18th birthday!
You can find the links to the IBL zips here:

Yes, very quiet lately. Not only here but on other forums too.. I guess real life is demanding atm..
Well, I haven't received any update from this thread in days and I had been up to my neck with the final preparation for Reality 3 for Poser. I am still alive!
Just wanted to say that :)
The big day is tomorrow so I will go back to my "cave" and finish the last few things.
Cheers.

Looks like it won't be long before I get to play again.
Insurance finally paid off on the fire and we will have a place to live as of May 1st, which means I will be ordering computer parts shortly afterwards.
Am now surronded by sand, Mesquite ,Palm, and fruit trees along with border patrol agents and the U.S.Marine Corps Academy

Glad to hear the good news, and most importantly that you are still here! I'm sure life will begin to get back to normal before you know it.
