if you still have 3dmax export as OBJ .. what type of file is it now ?
if its a 3dmax native file only max can open it .. but 3ds etc etc can be loaded and saved as in many programs
It is a 3dsMax file, and we do not have a 3dsMax forum... I am looking for someone that has 3dsMax and can convert it for me into either a Wavefront, or other compatable format to use in poser.
ghonma, I never thought of that!!! ThanX!!!

Is there water in your future or is
it being shipped away to be resold to you?

There is in fact a 3DSMax forum here at Renderosity. Just a heads up.

Sometimes, depending on the complexity or quality of the original model you can Tesselate and convert to quads (which sometimes has the added benefit of decimating the poly count) in a modeler, YMMV.
Quote - ...Probably after the fact but the .3ds file will probably load at default at a huge scale and way off into the Y axis, mainly due to the teensy-tiny native Poser scale. Try using the import settings as I've illustrated to get the thing less enviro-Sphere sized and somewhere within view. Also, expect that the model will be composed of Tri's in general. What I usually do with .3ds files is import them into Wings and prep them for Poser usage before even bothering to import into Poser.

While an excellent explaination, I am truly lost on nearly all that you say. I may have to wait to see if my 'friend' can do this for me, as this is way over my head. As I have never converted any file. Sorry, some of us are not as versed as others on things like this.... :(
But you did a great job of explaining! :D

Hi, I have a free model of a compound crossbow that was made in 3dsMax. I need to convert it to a Wavefront .obj or other poser 2012 compatable format. I do not know how to do this personally, but am willing to either trade product or pay $5.00 Gift Certificate to someone who can. Please let me know as this is the best looking one I have found yet, pay or free.
Thank you, please site mail me.
