I'm using bullet library in Modo 601/701.

From this experience, this library is not good enough for

softbody/cloth simulation things.

Sure, it works almost perfect for solid surface, rigid body.

Such as stuffing candy balls in bottle.

But its cloth simulation is awesome, strange folding, easily stopping by error,

and it has not enough parameters for control whole simulation.

In my opinion, Poser's cloth room is far better.

Currently I usually make cloth in poser , and export it to Modo.

So I do not expect much.

But introducing dynamic things in poser is good progress for the program.

I am excited about how Poser Pro 2014 will make it easier for me to use the non-mainstream figures I like to use, like Mankahoo's Angela, BVH's Angela, Michelle, Bella, Kez, Koz and Cynthia, the new Renithra as well. And also the older figures - it will be so much easier to clothe them.

All tools, be it for Poser 10 or for Poser Pro 2014, are such a big step forward that this is a true "Game Changer".

The SM - Poser  team did an extremely GOOD JOB here.

Does the new Poser-native bullet physics implementation supercede PoserPhysics then, or does the latter still offer extended features?

Anyway, bring on the 21st. I only wish I had a bit more time to be playing with it when it arrives... least it sounds like it will let me get more done in the time I do have! :)

Looking forward to these new realistic human figures... and I also really like the look of those new toon figures that Teyon has been working on :)

Well Darrell, the man who modeled and rigged Alyson 1 and Alyson 2 rigged Roxie. He also retopologised her based on my sculpts with Poser in mind. So far, everyone who has used her says she's among the best we've done to date.

THIS MUST BE THE WORST UPDATE IN SOFTWARE HISTORY...EVER!! DOES SM THINK I WILL BE WASTING MY HARD EARNED CASH ON THIS PILE OF DOG DO-DO! I MEAN, C'MON.....HAHA! I'M JOKING!

This seams a pretty thorough update...congrats to all the developers involved. My only wish, is that they would finally sort out the accurate rendering of caustics and refraction in Firefly. I'm a little flumoxed as to why a run of the mill rendering feature is causing them so many problems for so many years.

I would certainly buy this in an instance, but alas, most of my rendering is done in Vue Infinite, and until I upgrade to a newer Vue with the newer Poser SDK, it's hard to warrant an immediate upgrade to Poser...but then again, don''t underestimate the power of a new toy :P

Bullet Physics is cool.

Adding accurate physics to Poser Hair? - hmmmm, I suspect the hair itself will still look crap! lol!

Jangling boobies should be on the SM feature list page!!!!!!!

Fitting Room features look awesome!

Magnet and Deformer weight map support - looks good, but never have got on well with magnets...I always felt like I was juggling 10 things with one hand all at once with magnets. Trying to get what I wanted, just ended up in a big frustrating mess. Best feature for me was the ability to delete magnets! ;)

Morph Brush Improvements - GREAT! I love the morph brush, so any improvement is good news!

Still no "Make Great Art" button!!!!! Tossers...they need to fire whoever is responsible!

I didn't see anything that said either were GPU based, so it's your CPU and available RAM that are likely most important there.

OpenGL preview is GPU based and has been further optimised in this version so it could work better than the current version on the video card you have now.

A timed fitting room test. Start in Hexagon, building this simple ridersuit.

Goto Poser
Load a test figure and load the suit.
Goto Fitting room and fit
Goto Pose room and conform.

Load second test figure and fit the same ridersuit.
Goto Pose room and conform.

Load 3rd figure, (Posette)
Goto fitting room and fit
Goto Pose room and conform.

I altered the number of thightening steps slightly in between for the demo.

All clothing fits, is rigged, moprhs transferred, autogrouped and conformed.

AND scales as required; look at little posette. :-)

Total time from start in Hexagon to build the ridersuit, to and including this post : 34 minutes.

NO POSTWORK, No clean up, no finetuning, just "AS IS".

That looks good Vilters, thanks for the time test!

Now we are going to have to accumulate a set of spandex morphs (I think there are some out there) so that auto-fit does not suction between the body bumps:

V4 (+morphs)
A4
V4 Elite
A3
Alyson
Miki
etc...

A nice market opportunity for someone  ;-)

I've not had good luck using the morphing tool for that.  Do the new options make this any easier.  This was an immediate need with other figures that had auto-fit stuff.

vilters ( ) posted Thu, 09 May 2013 at 7:21 AM · edited Thu, 09 May 2013 at 7:22 AM

Oh, if you want loose fitted clothes , no problem either.

This can be adjusted inside the fitting room, or outside with the new morph brush tools.

The demo was a "speed" and "fitting" test.

Not really loose, but a tight shirt (for example a polo) that does not pull into the chest (same for the pants backside)

...of course there are times when that look is appropriate (or inappropriately appropriate) I guess...

There are a couple ways you can approach that in the fitting room. One way would be to use the paintbrush to reduce the amount of "tighten" between the breasts. The other way would be to add some "soft feature" in that area.  It could also be a combination of both those things. But it is definitely controllable.

Wouldn't the real-time preview features refer to the improved Open GL and new toon and comic display modes?  I'm still under the impression that the raytrace preview and physics are both probably CPU based.

Anything DX11 capable is still considered modern, right?
