Inspired by an image posted by RTC-Spanky at daz, heres an incredibly detailed poser model of an old computer. All the dials and knobs have been modelled so this model is perfect for close up shots. It's so detailed even the rubber around the buttons has been added, and the dials have readable displays. Plus it's been very carefully mapped and textured. As well as giving it a old desaturated feel for retro style scenes. For extra realism you can easily replace the main colours with app based shaders. Or quickly change the button textures to single colours to give a lit up Buck Rogers look. Oh, and the model comes as one big one single model and also as separate props. Image #1 shows model rendered in Poser 4 with the light from a daz environment set.

Render settings as image#1 with a slight sharpen to make up for poser anti-aliasing and .JPG compression.

This one is rendered using an HDR app.

As image#4, with a touch of SM's Camera Bag software, which I think makes this look aged and realistic, like a old magazine.

Uh...can't locate it at the link...only the Retro Super Computer but no The Big One there....

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again

Reminds me of Time Tunnel! ;)

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

bobbystahr - use the same link as the retro one. I've not updated the personal site yet. Thats happening later today, just got behind with everything while trying to rush around before tomorrow. Sorry I can't link direct from here, the download site has a store and rendo doesn't allow links to those sites. But they do allow me to link to my personal site which doesn't.

bobbystahr - Link is now working. TheHalfdragon - kinda. The actual design wasn't mine that came from an image in a forum post. The modeling was reasonably quick as well. It was the mapping that really took the time, even after premapping parts like the dials and knobs. Thats because most knobs/buttons on the UVMap are arranged as they are on the model. Did it that way, so if an artist like yourself wanted to change a dial colour or button it'd be a little bit quicker. While you'll still have to play 'hunt the texture', as with any model, it's now a tad easier. Which means you can quickly do stuff like the piccy above. The button effect is literally as simple as selecting a nice bright colour with no texture. This was done in P4PP for speed, but I reckon if an artist used a Poser version that allows you to really crank up the ambient, or maybe even used P9's "mesh as light" feature, you could easily obtain a nice lit up or glowing button effect.
