Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 11 6:36 am)
I'm not sure why, but I went back and just reinstalled it and then in the "preferences" of the script I set the cache to the genesis folder and the other one about a writeable runtime to the runtime folder of Poser, something it did not tell me on my instructions. Works just fine now. Go figure. I'm tickled now I can use all this stuff I had gotten for Genesis when it first came out. Oh...the dread of downloading all that stuff.

DAZ Install Manager is your Friend. Just add the directory where you installed the Genesis Starter Essentials and let it do the work...

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."Any review/experiences about Genesis in PP-2014 so far ?
How useable is a copy that was saved to the library as a "proper" cr2 so it doesn't have to be DSON imported everytime it is loaded ?
How well does it work with the new subdivision ?
Does the scaling now work by default ?
Cloth (re-)fit ?
Cloth conversion ?
I deleted anything Genesis to concentrate fully on Poser, but if there are serious improvements I might reconsider adding it to my workflow. If not for the humans, then definitely for the creatures and aliens and stuff.
Hmm, I could start my own thread, but I think I already filled my monthly quota of beeing a nuisance. :-o
Quote - FYI, just having admins privileges for Poser does not prevent UAC from interfering, especially if Poser and content are installed in Program Files.
That was true for the version before Windows 7, I never worked with that and don't remember the name . But you can install everything in Windows 7 in Program Files and under Poser without having any problems. Works in my case with DSON, Reality and so on. The problem people have with installing DSON is that the DAZ installation guide is not very clear or not easy to understand. Especially the part that one has to link the empty libraries runtime in DAZ Studio (that DAZ creates itself) in Poser as a runtime. I mean it is empty if you put your converted Genesis stuff into the Poser runtime. There is no need for this empty library except that is needed for the process somehow.
Quote - I guess there is no clear, for dummies explanation.
You have to install the DSON and the starter files. Then you have to install all the stuff you want to play with and the poser companion file. If there is no PC file it won't work in Poser. The genesis classic they gave us the first year has no poser companion file so it doesn't work. For me I got their install manager and did an install to a new runtime folder and just let the installer do all the heavy lifting.

Been out of town...

Don't know how to do that and I uninstalled studio :/ but good to know it can be done!

?? The DSON Importer doesn't work any differently than in Poser 9, 10 or PP 2012...

This is for the DAz Genesis. Poser works just great for Poser things. V4 and all your SM people. This is to get the creepy blob from DAZ and use the clothes in Poser for which it was not built. This is not a 2014 issue :)

So, apparently I own the fancy DSON thing. Never really had need for it. Totally uninstalled my DAZ stuff the other day that was for Genesis etc etc to make room for Pro 2014 and found out that DAZ updated their account page where I can actually FIND what I own. I stumbled upon the importer and all the goodies trying to find all my K4 stuff.
I installed it like the tutorial said, the script in 2014 area and then the stuff in the runtime I use for Genesis. It shows up just fine in my library, but when I go to import Genesis or any genesis item like a shoe etc...it says it is loaded but it is not there in the preview. I can't see it. I know there has to be somebody that knows how to make this thing work. Nothing I found addressess this problem. I think I remember some weird thing from WW and a script and an admin issue. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premious 64 bit and I do have Pro 2012 as an administrator I think....so any suggestions?
I just want to import some V5 clothes and use them on V4 LOL. I know people are doing it, but I'm still stuck at the starting gate :)
