Subject: Carrara not recognizing Poser Pro 2014 morphs

diomede ( ) posted Tue, 18 June 2013 at 5:57 PM · edited Mon, 20 January 2025 at 6:54 AM

I just installed Poser Pro 2014.  I added its runtime to C 8.5 content tab.  I loaded figures from P2014 runtime, not problem.  However, the morph dials on the parameter tab have no effect.  Thoughts?

Morphs are not always standardized from Poser to Carrara or other plugins that support Poser. Sometimes the morph dials will max out at a certain value However, you can usually manually enter a value instead of spinning the dial and get the results you need.

Let me know what you are working with and I can test with my set-up.

Someone on the Poser forum identified the problem.  Poser's general preferences can be set for external binary morphs.  If a figure is saved to the library with that setting, then Carrara 8.5 Beta won't recognize the morphs in the parameters tab.  If the Poser's general preferences are changed so that the box for external binary morph targets is unchecked, then the morphs will work in Carrara.

Thanks for your quick reply.

That's not exactly right.  The issue is that Carrara won't use external binary morphs.  The advice in the poser forum, which is correct, was to open the figure in Poser with binary morphs on (checked) then uncheck the box and save.  This forces Poser to save the morphs in the figure.  This saved figure can then be opened in Carrara and saved to the browser with all morphs intact.

Whether the box is checked in Poser or not will have no effect on Carrara.  The figure must be saved with the morphs loaded (and external morphs turned off) and then opened in Carrara.

This is a problem with any poser content with external morphs.
