Subject: agiel is our August Theme Winner!

Message346128.JPGBig thanks to jpcr, agiel, Guitta, and Axe555 who participated in our August Theme, and congratulations Laurent ("agiel") for being our winning choice for your August Theme image. There were few entries for August, but each of them were very well conceived. Details here. Laurent now has the dubious honor of selecting the new Theme for September! This will be a "short" month, as we try to get the monthly T&C better aligned with the calender month; of course Themes and Challenges can be attempted all year long and just not be eligible for the casual voting we do. Theme & Challenge info here. Way to go, Laurent! :)

Eep ! Thanks Varian :) and thanks for the voters .. and the participants. Since we have a short month ahead, I will try to make it simple and quick : "Imaginary places" is my proposal. One of my favorite books is the Encyclopedia of Things that Never Were. What I have in mind with this challenge is something similar : pictures of places that exist only in imagination. The choice is yours, be it from legends, books, movies, fantasy, science fiction, horror... you name it. Some examples for get you started : Avalon, Atlantis, Babylon 5, Rlyeh, The flying city of Laputa, El Dorado, Asgard, Olympia... I guess you got the idea. Good luck to everyone.

What a wonderful Theme, Laurent, thank you! I can imagine a whole lot of things already. Now, to put them into Vue - lol! In Mike's absence, the Challenge (to go along with the Theme), shall be: using colored lights. Imaginary worlds could have many opportunities for different kinds of lighting. To participate in the T&C, you can create an image based on the Theme, or an image based on the Challenge, or one image of each, or an image that incorporates both the Theme and Challenge together. You can create more than one for either the Theme, Challenge, or both. When you have an image ready to share, upload it to your gallery, then create a message post in the forum with a link to the gallery page. To be eligible for our casual voting, your Theme image must be posted on or before October 3. Voting will occur from Oct. 4-7, with the new T&C presented Oct. 8. :)

Congratulations Laurent! That really was a great pic. I like the sound of your challenge, the ideas are flowing already. Rich

Yes, congrats, Laurent! And your challenge idea is a very good one, at that; Vue is perfectly suited for those "imaginary" scenarios!

Congratulations Laurent. Very nice picture. And thanks for the nice idea for the following challenge. It is exactly the opposite to what I generally do, but I will try also :-). Until when goes the challenge (need some time) ? Guitta

Varian ( ) posted Thu, 20 September 2001 at 8:44 AM

Time? What's that? :) As with the Theme, the Challenge is "active" through October 3. We'll be getting a new Challenge when the October Theme is chosen. But too, the Challenges are always open for experimentation. There is a list of our "history" at this URL, plus a view of Laurent's image. :)

Varian, to answer to your important question :-) Some people says time is money. I only see that time is the round thing rolling forwards and never stops, the thing I'm running behind always and again and never can catch it to hold it on for a short while. Oops, I just had it in my hand for a half second and lost it again in writing here :-) Guitta

LOL! Here, we say "I'll do that when I get around to it," which typically means there hasn't been any time for it yet. The phrase is jokingly butchered as "I'll do that when I get a round tuit" (all pronounced the same), and some novelty stores actually sell "round tuits", usually a round piece of plastic colorfully labeled "TUIT". Sure hope this translates okay. :)
