Or you can copy the DL location from the renderosity pop-up page, paste that into the location box of your browser and then change the 3 letter extension from small letters to capital letters: www.geocities.com/someplace/34322/thefile.zip to www.geocities.com/someplace/34322/thefile.ZIP and then hit enter. Always works for me. -Trav
There is a much simpler way than all this messing about, just IE5. This is something I feel very strongly about and find most people who use NS are those who are anti-microsoft. In my opinion there is nothing much wroung any of the microsoft products, I have never had any problems with them. ASK ANYONE IF THEY WOULD LIKE EVERY COMPUTER THE WORLD OVER TO BE ABLE TO TALK WITH ONE ANOTHER AND THEY ALL SAY "YES" THEY JUST DON'T WANT BILL GATES TO PROVIDE THE MEANS TO DO SO.
I work in the industry and am running a eval copy of Windows 2000, IE 5 and there are some bugs to work out of W2K. As for Netscape, their newest browser does have some serious bugs. If there are tags or HTML that are IE specific it can stall or crash. They are working on it and are also trying to make it more universal. Hit their site and see if they have any patches yet. I haven't seen anything new in the past two months.
Hmmmm...Not trying to start a holy war here. It was just an observation. I use Netscape out of force of habit because my machine at work had it. Really, I could care less. If one works and the other doesn't, well..I guess that's an easy decision :) Allerleirauh, tried both your suggestions to no avail, but will keep all the ideas in mind next time. Thanks again for the great hair, looking forward to posting something soon using it. Have a good one Bob
I have no trouble accessing Renderosity.com via Netscape 4 at work, but that is via a LAN, not a dial-up line. (Will we have to wait for the aliens to land or for the Secoond Coming before we get a LAN-quality internet service via dedicated wires to all private addresses like we get cable TV now?) (See my website: http://www.buckrogers.demon.co.uk : sci-fi stories, software, etc)
heya; when i tried to get allie's hair from here... i got a split screen page of renderosity apparently trying to skirt the download restrictions on top (with no scroll bar for me to scroll down the the part where it says 'click on this link to get the download.' d'oh!), and the legend of allewhatchamacallher in the bottom. it was weird, but i figured it was a glitch in the renderosity workaround script. i went to pfo and got it from their fun stuff. worked fine. ::
Personally I don't give a hootchie mama WHAT means I'm given to access the stuff I need so long as it WORKS! I'm not anti Bill but lemmie assure you I've never had the biggest urge to purchase a Mac until I got Win98! Don't get me started on THAT dang OS! I just don't feel the whole mac / pc war is argued correctly since it's not really a matter of HARDWARE but Operating Systems. The OS on a MAC has worked fine for many...while MANY have complained about the OS on the PCs. So in my opinion the COMPUTERS themselves are fine it's just the DANG OS's screwing everything up! It would seem to make sense since I use Netscape and recently TRIED to update my WIN98 to the way it SHOULD have worked out the box only to find that MR.GATES had the NERVE to assume FOR ME that I wanted ALL OF MY files and internet thingies associated with IE! NOW THAT'S just plain RUDE! HMPH!! PAN~ (dear lawd I've just started a war...hehehehehe)
Well Pan, I understand your not wanting to start a war but lemme just pour a little bit of gasoline on that little fire there you got. For the past two weeks I've done nothing but format, install windows, crash everyhing, do it again, and so on. Illegal functions are being performed all over the place. It's not just me, it's the guy at the store where I bought it, the friends who tried to help, everyone here is now certifiably commitable. I WANT A MAC, TOO. NOW. please.
Haha...no wars here...what we have here is a failure to communicate... It would appear this is definitely an operating issue! I've not had any problems with my hardware...just my dang OS! If they could develop a dang OS that was stable enough to suit ma needs well I reckons I'd be able to produce more PAN.WARE! But I gits so flabbergasted it t'aint even funny! Eventually I end up killin' stuff on N64 or PS! cause I'm so fed up wit da dang compooTAH! hehehe.... Funny thing is I LEARNED on a Mac in college only to get out and be told I needed PC knowledge to THEN learn the PC cause supposedly without the knowledge of it I couldn't make it to then be told that all the COOL art jobs are done on a MAC! GO FIGURE! MEANWHILE I couldn't GIT a MAC job if I was slavin' for free! WHAT GIVES!?! YOUR darned if you do and dingnabitted if you don't! Sheeesh.... PAN~
Hi Folks! I'm an unapologetic Mac user. And as a college instructor teaching DTP and 3D design, I can tell you it's a lot easier teaching programs like Poser and Bryce (which I will be doing in the spring) on a Mac. But I've also learned that it pays to be competent in both platforms (and just in case, next year I'm gonna learn some basic Linux). !!!!!!! Peter (Dr Zik)
ugh download opera, you can get an entire web browser, with nothing fancy, that'll fit on a floppy disk it'll show you the webpages perfectly which, after all, is what we need. and because they haven't added in a million little features there is less to crash =) despite that, I still use IE 'cause it's built into windoze unfortunately, gotta love abuse of monopolies SewerRat
but wars between OS's are good =) just don't get one started about unix/pc grin my post was just to let people know that there isn't only the choice of IE/Netscape, there are other browsers around, they just aren't as famous go to www.tucows.com - you can download trial/freeware software, and look through the browsers, try a few often you will find something simple that'll do the job you want, without the eye candy, and your computer will be the happier for it you don't need to use netscape or IE if neither do what you want =) but if they are fine, by all means use them SewerRat

Has anyone else had problems downloading the FreeStuff using Netscape? I've been trying to get Allerleirauh's awesome hair transmaps since she put them up, but I've been using Netscape and, well, you've probably noticed my pathetic messages saying that I couldn't get the link to work. I thought, "What the heck", and tried IE and it worked! I think it might be an ASP thing with the YahooCities, because I've had similar problems with Netscape at the Microsoft site. So, if at first you don't succeed, try a different browser. TyggerBob
