Subject: the Dawn of a new day...

paganeagle2001 ( ) posted Sat, 22 June 2013 at 10:15 AM

Yep, that's the limitation, Poser to Studio dynamics.

I've always said that Studio users pay a hell of a lot for things that Poser users make in minutes and get working in the Cloth Room.

Now, if someone could break that, it would be great.

Dynamics is the easiest way for people to learn about making things, no grouping, no rigging etc.

All the best.

This is certainly exciting and I hope it does work out well.  It feels like a lot of artists with big name recognition are as excited about this too which is reassuring.  :)

Also...Ken says on his website that his birds will be available July 1st. So maybe a small tip off as to when we will be able to see at the very least the new store front :)  http://www.empken.com/SongbirdReMix/index.html

A quick example of dynamics, made this for Roxie by adapting one of my base meshes, cut the mesh, put on a basic texture, saved as an obj and tested in the Cloth Room.

Total time 5 minutes.

This is why I would like the see a Quicksuit - Quickdress set for Dawn.

People can practice and gain experience.

All the best.

Since I had dozens of emails and PMs asking me where my stuff has gone and I'm sure Lisa has had the same... I think Lisa will be okay with me putting your fears to rest.

Hivewire3D, once it opens, will have the plant and bird market pretty well sewn up.

Fantastic on all three counts, You , Lisa and Hivewire.  I was excited enough with Dawn now this.   My birthday is 5th July but it looks like my birthday may be early this year.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Yep, just missing a little something. Lol.

Now, those pics show what can be done by ANYONE in Poser, how it's done in Studio is???? Lol.

But it does show that people can make content for themselves.

Sometimes they are just practice things, to gain knowledge of things, but I will always encourage anyone to have ago.

This is the only way to get something exactly the way you want. I have seen things very close to things I need, but would need to adapt. Learning to do things helped me get exactly what I need at times.

Now that dynamic dress, easy enough to make a belt to go with it, easy enough for me to make material zones to make the dress shorter, split it into a top and dress, make the arms shorter, take the arms off etc. It's all little tricks, but nothing that cannot be learned in an easy way.

All the best.

Okay, so I decided to prepare a list of the artists who are either involved directly with the project at HiveWire3D or who have indicated somewhere in this very long thread that they would be willing to support Dawn in their stores.

I am not a spokesperson for the creators, so  I apologize ahead of time if I get any details wrong or if I have left anyone off this list. Please correct me if I did. I just thought it might be helpful to see the support in a list as the thing that scares people off of new characters seems to be the fear of lack of support.

Also, since this thread is so long that it is easy to miss someone. I have gone through the thread 3 times combing for names to add to the list and found someone I had not seen the first time around, so it would be easy for someone just now entering the discussion to see just how well supported this character is. I should also mention that there is no order in this list and placement on the list in now way reflects level of expertise or level of support from the artist. I did however, try to put the HiveWire3D founational team at the top of the list.

I will try to update it in about ten pages with additions or corrections!

Chris Creek( 3D Artist/Modeler)—Founder of HiveWire3D: Formerly co-founder of both Zygote and Daz3D—executive vice-president of for almost a decade—created/worked with artistic teams on several popular figures for Poser/Daz including Posette/Dork and Victoria and Michael in all of their incarnations.

I know it will probably come up when people start asking about clothing, but can we keep words like "slutwear", "skimpwear" etc. out of it.

It's not nice (in my opinion) for peoples work to be labeled like that.

Different people like different things, it's all personal choice on what people make and use.

Whatever comes out, can we please respect what has been made and the time that has been taken to make it.

I am very aware of Dawn and have been following her development. I came on as a content artist later on in the cycle.  I have been lending my thoughts and ideas on the Poser side of things.  I also have a couple of neat tools in the works.

Dawn bends and poses exceptionally well and I don't think anyone will be disappointed.  Native WM figure for each platform, DS and Poser.  The more I mess around with the figure, the more I want to develop content for it -- yes, it's a lot like THAT.  Haven't had this much fun since V3 :)

Thats the way to go!!!

None of that, Your Poser - I'm Studio stuff, just people all working together.

Bring in Vue, bring in Carrara etc.

All that want to be involved should have their voice heard and NOT be afraid to ask for things.

It's not going to be a mines better than yours type of thread, we need to get rid of that type of thing. And that's coming from me!!! I know people know exactly how I am, but I'm seeing good things coming from ALL sides now.

People who may have not got on with others are now talking and getting on with things.

If Dawn just does that then it will be great for the 3D Community.

Personally I hope Dawn will utilize dynamic morph lists in DS. One of three reasons I switched from Gen4 to Genesis is that Genesis has not a slightest need for injections and I was tired injecting V4/M4 each time and watch if one community channel conflicts with another. You make your own morph and as long as the name of morph is unique, it automatically loads in its own channel, no need to work with channels. Unlimited (or, at least, a very big) dynamic list.

You don't need build injections, you just share your morph file in zip in a proper folder. Very simple and elegant system.

paganeagle2001 ( ) posted Sat, 22 June 2013 at 11:29 AM

I write tutorials for complete beginners.

The first rule for me is easy, what would someone want to learn that has never touched the program before.

I don't treat people as experts, or talk down to them like children, but I do give enough info to get things going, and most importantly want to do more.

I once wrote an entire computer course in 6 days for wordprocessing, databases, spreadsheets, working in an office environment etc. That was done after working during the day. It was put into beta testing on the 7th day, and needed only a few changes to go into use. Day 8 it was up and running, with qualifications.

I've seen too many tutorials that say they are easy to do and then after page one you are lost in jargon and complicated stuff.

Nope, small steps, leads to larger steps = a happy user.

Quote - Get base, inject the morphs you need and then save the figure back to the folder with a different name.

With Genesis you don't need to use injection system at all - not to inject, not to resave, nothing. Morphs are automatically loaded, don't tax the system and very easily to share. No need to bother with clumsy injection system if you want to share your morph, no need to use external plugins or watch community channels for overlap because vendor A and freebie maker B both used same channel PCC_00X as you did. No neet to run *.bat files like with Victoria to add new morph expansion. Easily updatable previous scenes if you want them to. You also don't run of channels - at least I didn't and I have huge Genesis morph library.

Quote - You can put me on the list :)

Just got my attention! LOL...I always loved texturing your stuff ;).

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I thought it was Sunday.  Waking up at 6 am really screws with my head!

Thanks Kattey, that's info that's required for people. Some of us that haven't used Studio for a while will need to learn a few new tricks.

The more info that content makers & users have, the better.

I've never been one of those that keep secret ways of doing things. If I find an easy way to do something, then I let people know.

I remeber the days when we had to hack cr2's etc. to do things, so much easier now with various tools.

All the best.

Taken from Ken's site:-

Hivewire3D belives in me and my product line. I'm no longer just another product for a superstore to sell.

Too many times people are seen as just a means to an end. Nice to see a person being treated AS a person.

This sounds great, I would love to see this happen!

Yeah, that's why I was asking about method of applying morphs for Dawn... us DAZ Studio users have been spoiled by the versatility of Genesis.

The bottom line really is whether or not Dawn is 'just' a fancy V4 or something much more e.g. could it match the versatility of Genesis, or is that too much to hope for?

(I understand that might sound a bit weird to folk that haven't used Genesis, but it will make perfect sense to people that do use Genesis - kattey touched on it too)

Quote - I write tutorials for complete beginners.

Amen to that. I am going to have a look at that link tonight. Thank you so much for the support. I really want to learn how to save my morphs as injections. It took me a long time to figure out how to morph and now I love doing it. I just have run into so many snags(my lack of knowlege and understanding mostly) to save them as inject and remove.

Until Dawn appears we won't know and those that know at the moment, probably have NDA's.

Every time I come back to this thread, it just gets better and more exciting.

I'd like to re-bump the question of Vue importing.  Will Dawn import nicely into Vue, like V4 does?

If she works in Vue and Reality, she'll be a very serious contender for me.

Which version of Vue and Reality???

I have Reality 3 for Poser, so I can find that out, once she appears.

There is something I am not really clear about.

In PP2014 we have the new fitting room and the copy morphs and copy joints option - all ready to go to create a new outfit

Why go through all the hoops to get the clothing prepared for Poser if all you need to do is load clothing, Enter fitting room, press create figure, select the morphs you want and press OK?

Or am I missing something? Dawn should have the weightmaps and the morphs, the clothing is designed around Dawn - so no real fitting needed and the setup takes the groups from the Dawn figure.

Can anyone from HiveWire, or CA's which have dealt with this, answer?

Another thing for testers to think about, different versions of operating systems.

I use PC's but obviously they will want people to test on a Mac.
