I've modeled it and I hardly know what the thingie is called in Danish (or.. I think I know it, but er...)

What I need is the English name of it, please :)

Pippette! That's the name! Same as in Danish then, but I thought it seemed too easy L

Thanks!

Or if it is pretty large, a baster.

I thought it was a baster, at first glace.  The basters I've seen usually have the larger, more bulbous rubber squeeze bits at the end, while all the pipettes I've seen have squeeze-y parts that just extend from the glass portion as a straight tube, without bulging.  But the basters also have had a greater circumference for the tube, whereas the pictured item looks much more like a glass dropper pipette, below the bulb.  So I have an impulse to be nonsensically creative and call it a baster pipette.

But these are superficial design aspects which may vary from place to place... and Cage's frame of reference is not the broadest in the world.

Is that something that Dexter uses?

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Hehe well yes. Although his looks a little different, longer, but still this type. I was going partly from memory of his and partly from memory of one I had myself once. So it's a mix.

And definitely not  a baster.. That would be a tad too big L But as there's no size references in the first pic, it just COULD have been ;)

AARGH This glass is driving me batty.. it won't LOOK like glass.. or well it will.. but not all the time...

The spelling in English is "pipette". (only 1 p)

If it's a chemical dropper, that's what it is. Pipette is a more technical term. Non-technical people would day "a dropper".

Thanks. One p in Dansih too, so I reckoned it was a typo :)

Since the word pipette is known in English and it matches the Danish name of the thing, I will keep it :) But it's good to know any other names for it as well :D

These days you wouldn't use a dropper to deposite a drop of blood on a slide.  You would use a capillary tube, a thin, most likely heparinized, glass tube.  Dip the end into your solution or blood, cap the open end with your finger and then apply a tiny drop to your slide or substrate.  Takes practice to get the drop just the right size.

LaurieA ( ) posted Wed, 10 July 2013 at 2:08 AM

Looks like an eye dropper to me ;). A pipette is more of a glass tube with no bulb.

"Dropper" is proably more commonly understood, but "Pipette" is also fine.

I think Pippet was also the name of the dog in the first Jaws film that the shark got.

LaurieA ( ) posted Wed, 10 July 2013 at 9:39 AM

Pipettes as I was thinking of them. Some also come with bulbs tho...like Trekkie's original image ;).

As long as you don't keep a box of blood slides along with them, I'm not concerned ;)
