Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 08 9:27 am)
I had/have a problem that may be related in that, when I first got Poser 2014 I did a portrait render in Luxrender, via reality 3, using the Unimesh method the join at the neck is visable. Going back to traditional skinning cleared the problem. I have not used the combination since but I suspect from what is seen here is that it would be the same at all the joints.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.
try exporting without groups in export settings.
export the figure with all export settings unchecked, reimport with just weld identical vertices. the figure is now one piece (a prop) with all material regions intact and no splits at the groups. works with Gen3, Gen4, whatever.
edit_ haven't used the latest version of Poser so maybe the is a curve-ball that I'm unfamiliar with, usually disabling groups on export and then welding does the trick though.

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!
What boxes did you have ticked when exporting? Even you tick weld, if you also tick some of the other boxes, that will "re-break" the body parts.
Poser 12, in feet.
OSes: Win7Prox64, Win7Ultx64
Silo Pro 2.5.6 64bit, Vue Infinite 2014.7, Genetica 4.0 Studio, UV Mapper Pro, UV Layout Pro, PhotoImpact X3, GIF Animator 5
Try exporting with EVERYTHING unchecked and see what happens. I did a test awhile back where someone was complaining about unwelded meshes. I found that if the check box to include group names was checked, the mesh exported unwelded, but if unchecked, it exported as a single mesh. I checked by importing into Blender and Wings 3D.
If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

Is this a bug or simply a limitation of the Unimesh technology?
