Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 28 11:20 am)
I got into Poser because of my MMO gaming habits. I wanted a way to bring my RP characters to life, and I can't draw worth beans. My DA gallery is full of images from my various games over the years: SWG, Fallen Earth, The Secret World, and more.
Latest image is my ark hunter from Defiance.
I'm playing Deus Ex Human Revolution. I played Infamous 1 & 2, The Cave, Mirror's Edge. on the iPad I played Asphalt Heat and Temple Run.
Old time favorites include Doom, Quake, Monekey Island and Prince of Persia.
Cheers.

Playing Metro Last Light. Would be great to be able to get M4 and V4 props to make Metro type renders but not had too much luck finding that style of props and clothes. Tend to be more inspired by the cinematics created for games rather than the games themselves, Blur Studios cinematics for Elder scrolls or plantside would be good examples but never got anywhere close to their work.
Still play Kingpin Life of Crime....

Not good but then I'm not an artist either.....

GW then Guild Wars 2 is the only MMO I play...and I grinded a little too long after release, so I got some burn-out on it.
Otherwise, XBOX Multiplayer is my main online gaming of choice, fast, fun and furious! :)
I don't render what I play, though games give me ideas to render.
EDIT: Oh, and Minecraft with my kids
I play Bethesda games. So I'm often modeling stuff I see in those games. Just for fun.

Quote - I play a lot of games. Mostly MMO's and adventure games.
At the moment Neverwinter. :)
I'm sure the games give me ideas for images, but that's rather random than desired.
My favorite MMO was Dark Age of Camelot for years. I wish someone would create a second part of the game with new graphics.
I saw something on kickstarter that looked like the parts of the DaoC team were recreating the game in a new setting with modern graphics can not remember what it was called though will check into it later.

Just finished the Last Of Us. It was like reading a great novel but one you could actually play. Such a sad and messed up story. If you have a Playstation 3, you would do yourself a favor by playing that and asking yourself, what would you have done.
To answer your other question, no, my art doesn't reflect my gaming. Mostly because I don't do much Poser art anymore. It's one of the sacrifices you make once you start making the program. That and going to conventions for fun are things of the past for me now sadly.
My group of seven eyars broke up this month, so I quit playing online completely. Most of what I play(ed) anyway are my PS1 games.
I want to (re)make games I like with Poser and maybe Flash, but these would not be limited to just one game or format - The board for Risk as a world map with Poser troops on a Battletech terrain field for example. Interactive animation with sound would be the goal as long as it is fun to play. :)
In the late 70's I was involved in creating HACK, still around as NetHack - and I consider it still unbeaten for its rich action / response combis. Hardly graphical though, but recommended, and don't forget to feed the dog.
But man, we were so proud that every morning around 08:30 hundreds of students brought down the uni's DEC VAXes by launching the game instead of their research jobs :-). And we could introduce new characters and their behaviours into the dungeons while playing.
15 years after that, MYST revealed the graphics capabilities of games (I really liked it), and 10 years after that, EVE Online marked a new area. I hardly take the time to really play, but I do like the rich graphics so much.

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.
visit www.aRtBeeWeb.nl (works) or Missing Manuals (tutorials & reviews) - both need an update though
BadKittenCo, the moba genre have a lot of sources of inspiration if that's what you are asking.
As to your question not really. I play LOL (the fact there are no Ahri or Sona outfits in the MP is suprizing to me), Borderlands, GW and GW2, 4x strategies, and JRPGs. My "art" tends to be mostly pinup stuff, some portraits a little comedy, a little politics, the occasional angle experiment, that sort of thing.
Avacyn (a MTG card) looks like something in your style if you need inspiration; their art is a good place to look.

Skyrim, Halo and Gears of War on Xbox.
Yeah. I guess my renders are often along similar lines because I'm interested in sci-fi and fantasy, but I never try to recreate anything too closely inspired by any game.
Quite a lot of my renders are cute toony stuff though, so nothing like the games I play! :)
Wow, look at you guys!!! Lot of cool games.
I was wondering, well in part because my art school specialization is Game Art in addition to fine arts (concepting and 3D) but also I was curious about what stuff people like to possibly gear Bad Kitteh content towards certain genres.
On the other hand.... I'm all alone in Guild Wars 2 and Aion MMO's, anyone playing? Lot of my classmates are into LOL, I installed it but haven't found time to play. Need to make time for Bioshock Infinite too. I never seem to have enough time to play though. I gave myself couple of weeks after the semester ended to relax and indulge, but now I have to crank some content out during the summer break from school.
I'm very excited about Playstation 4 (and xbox 1, although the internet connection thing has me abbivalent) and the new generation of cinematic looking games. Graphics needed for games and cinematics are very close to merging. Personally I'm a big fan of high rez, high detail stuff (even if stylized, I love detail).

Hi, my name is "No, Bad Kitteh, NOO",
what's yours?
I played Aion years ago and don't like it anymore.
But I have Guild Wars 2 installed and play it from time to time. :)

Thanks for the hint. After your post I've searched for it and it should be Camelot Unchained?
I play GW2 from time to time, can't remember my server though atm...
Is guesting possible? I think GW2 is perhaps the most anti-social MMO yet so I haven't yet had a reason to try going to another server.
I also hate a number of the armor designs in the new game, though some people like them.

I am on Sanctum of Rall, but I think you can guest to any server, if we all wanted to go dungeon-ing (sp?) ;-) I have done very little of the dungeons...
Yea, I wish there was a better way to group up versus saying, "Pick me, Pick me, please someone pick me for your group!" :glare: Be nice to have an option to just run in, and then when 6 folks have run in, they are grouped, and can introduce and explore/fight. Quick, fast, totally random and fun...
I've played a lot some years back. Mostly games like either Civilization or Worms. I like turn based games. Less stressing and suits me better.
One of the first things I ever "modeled" was a Worm. And a Diglett (Pokémon L)
I find inspiration for renders in books and movies. Until recently, I rendered stuff from the Potterverse. At the moment I'm obsessed with Dexter, and that shows in my renders and in what I dabble in modeling :)

Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
Diablo 3, AKA auction house tycoon. Made my first billion last week.
I don't render.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
Guild Wars 2, Skyrim, Mass Effect 1-3, Call of Duty(all) Battlefield(all) Halo(1-3 up to reach.) Dragon Age 1 and 2, Tera Online, Aion, Vidictus. Dragon Age Origins, Injustice.
I love to do fantasy renders. Love big awesome creatures like Dragons!!

I'm only gaming on my Xbox360 once in a while. Mostly racing games like Forza & Forza Horizon, PGR4 and TDU1/2. I race on my own, or with my 12 year old son and recently with my 14 year old daughter. We also play soccer, some Disney Universe for pure fun. We've got a kinect which get used pretty often, various games.
No computer games for me, my computer is being used for other things. Do my renders reflect my games..... no, not at all. I made one racing render once and that's is. My renders do not reflect my games or the movies I do watch, don't need any of those for inspiration, got inspiration enough within myself :-)

DAZ tried to get into the gaming market and failed miserably. I think it's a waste of time, neither SM or DAZ has the knowledge to accomplish such things. The only thing they should do is get their export features up to date..... but that's just my opinion :-)

I used to play a lot of games. MMO's and rpg's. Age of Conan , Swtor, Guild Wars 2, Kotor , Mass Effect..etc.. But for whatever reason , these days when I try and play a game I get bored in less than 20 minutes. I don't know why that is.
D'oh! Why do things that happen to stupid people keep happening to me?
Quote - > Quote - I keep hearing so much about skyrim mods, it makes me want to try it!
It's deep dark hole, very difficult to get out of. But visit the skyrim nexus if you don't want to see poser for months.
LOL! Happened to me. But I saved a lot of money that way. Skyrim mods are free, (and I like building my own player housing). Poser content, not so much (and when I'm rendering a lot, I have a bad habit of buying stuff).
I would love to render scenes inspired by the game, but there's not much quality content out there that works. Poser barbarian armor is way too skimpy for both the boys and girls.
Dragons, though. Poserverse has lots of quality dragons. If I could outfit a pair of dovakhiins and have them battling the beasties, it would make me enormously happy. :)
Aside from that, I regularly render the D&D characters that I play.

Quote - What do you guys think about social MMOs like Second Life, IMVU, and Playstation Home? What if say Daz or Curious Labs created an MMO or grid for Daz or Poser figures to inhabit would you use it, why and why not?
I'm not fan of MMO's so right from the start I'd say no, I wouldn't use it but also, for Home at least (I haven't tried the other two you mentioned), I see little that I wouldn't rather do through text or via chat...hell even google hangouts. I never understood the draw. Also, Curious Labs? Really?
