Elvish house and environment playset for Poser

The water flows!  This is done automatically in the material room.

The biolumenescent lamp flames are also automatically animated, and in P9 SR3.1 and later, they actually illuminate the house.  ^^

This playset pack consists of three zips, which were uploaded this morning, and are pending approval.

The starter pz3 scenes are in runtime:libraries:scene     One has some furniture already loaded, the other is bare so as to be lighter on system resources.  The scene files have gentle point lights inside the biolumen to supplement the IDL illumination.

There are alternate sky maps (day, night, twilight, sunset, stormy) in runtime:textures:seachnasaigh:seach enviro.

for some reason when I export it out of DAZ4 all the textures scales get messed up but these small renders should help me size them correctly. I'll be using this in Terragen2-3 and any Poser/DAZ settings don't seem to be compatible.

Wow. That is an awesome set. I'd pay for that one. Well, ok I'd wish list it and hope to be able to pay for it. But it would be high priority.

BobbyStahr:

D/S will not read the tiled materials (and there are a lot) nor the animated materials.  I learned that much from when I released TinkerBell's Drive-In Cafe' (which needs an IDL update).  I wish I knew how to do the materials in D/S, but I don't.  If someone knowledgeable in D/S wants to make a D/S material pack (either freebie or commercial),  I give that my blessing and will cooperate with providing scale of tiling for the materials, et cetera.  Would it help if I compile a list of tiling scales used for various material zones?  I remember offhand that the second storey floor is tiled 42 times, for example, and the first storey floor is tiled 36 times.  Those "green man" wood shake shingles on the roof should be tiled 91 times.  No more, no less, 91.  That works out with the edges lined up nicely.

I can make basic materials for a Vue version, including the self-luminous lamps, and I will likely put out a Vue pack as I get to it.

Oh, and you might be able to enlighten me here regarding something I read in someone else's freebie post;  I do strip out the geometries as remotely referenced OBJs, but they do not have .mtl files.  For use in any other studio, should I include the .mtl files which were associated with the meshes when I built and mapped them?  I.e., would the stripped-out OBJs work with their original .mtl files?

I would like to accomodate as many studios as I can;  my skills are limited, so I'd need some guidance, but I'll be happy to adapt where I can, and let others run with the ball if they have skills in the areas where I lack.

Heh heh.    It is a bit bulky; that's why I had to break it up into three zips.  But actually, I already have in mind a few more add-ons:  a basic kitchen, a curved couch to set in the hexagonal-shaped sunbays for enjoying the view, a diner booth table and chair set for the sunbays, and a sauna for the sunbays.  And maybe somebody in Poserdom will also make who knows what for it.

Checked it out in Bryce and arbitrarily tiled most texex at 22 reps which looked good, good to know 91 for the rooh, had it at 100.

You could maybe just pack up the .mtl files and post as an update and I'll see if they work that way if you like.

Phenomenal! What a masterpiece! Thanks Seachnasaigh :-)

seachnasaigh ( ) posted Wed, 04 September 2013 at 6:37 AM

You're welcome, monkeycloud.  😄

BobbyStahr:  The crux of this is that now I know that henceforth I need to include .mtl files with the OBJs.  Regarding tiling scales, most of them can be set by eye.  The terrain material is a hideous conglomeration of Poser nodes and wires, but then a landscape studio could simply use a native material.

     I'll gather the .mtl files.

Despite having big battery/surge protectors, I lost my main modeling computer and some other machines in two storm events some time back, and I have still not yet made an attempt to recover data.  I'm hoping I can recover another enviro set, Lothlorien.  This is a Poser test render of that unfinished set (the camera is placed right about the center):  Look for (and click) the little "magnifying glass" icon if you click the pic to enlarge.

Lothlorien.

Oh!  Forgot to put this in the readme:  **Hide the ground plane**.  The ground floor of the house is at Y=0, so the little valley is all lower than the Poser ground plane.  If you begin your scene build using one of my supplied pz3 scenes, this is already done for you.

You can either click on the "eye" icon in the hierarchy panel, or un-tick the visible box in the parameters panel (properties tab).

BobbyStahr:  I've gathered .mtl files, but can't attach them in a post.  I already have a request pending to upload some of my pixie stuff, so it will be a few days, unless you want to use e-mail or something.  The zip is less than 13KB.

I uploaded the little (12.8KB) zip of .mtl files this morning.  It's not in runtime format.

For future models, I'll try to collect .mtl files and put them in with their respective OBJs.

I'm a bit taken aback that downloads of the .mtl files are about 1/3 of the Eldar house main files, implying that a considerable number of folks are using this in something other then Poser.

Would the Z-depth map for the enviro background walls be useful?scratch head
