I was just browsing the store at HW and saw the Texture Transformer was now available, presumably as a standalone. I hope it's OK to post this even if it's something that's for sale somewhere else? I would think it's here too, I just havent' checked :)

Now, of course I just shelled out for the full package the other day.. but.. the new orph tools in that should be worth it anyway. For those who oly want to transform their V4 textures to Dawn.. now's your chance :D

anyone give this a run?  what is the verdict?  i have TC2 which i really like, but i wonder if this Transformer will be a standalone that can be added to with each new character texture UV (like the TC2 product).  certainly can't be almost $50 for each additional character, right?

Blurb says V4 to Dawn included, M4 to Rex coming and free, V4 to Roxie comeing and free.

Does it still need realityPaint for it to run, and will it be 3D graphics sensitive (meaning you would have to have 3D graphics card to run it - since I'm only running on Intel now)?

Yea the thing that is a bit confusing is the part where you create a V4 with whatever texture you want to convert. It's pretty straightforward once you get that little bit :) 

If you choose 4000x4000 textures (the max) it takes a good while, and at the beginning it looks like nothing is happening... but then suddenly.. bingo.. one new texture for Sawn :)

(I should add that this is how it behaves as part of Reality Paint but from the look and description, the texture Converter is simply that little part yanked out of RP so I think it behaves absolutely similar :))

It's also for sale at RDNA, for the same price.

I'm especially excited about Rex and Roxie being supported (eventually).  Clothing really isn't a problem any more but textures...that would make the Poser native characters a lot more usable.

Yes. I'm hoping for support for more Poser characters. Like Tyler and Anastacia (and their original counterparts)

Since Tyler and Anastasia are morphs, wouldn't the textures work on Ryan and Alyson anyway?

Anybody having problems with download/extracting? I got a 135137 KB zip file, but 7zip can't extract it :-( I have downloaded it 4 times now and always the same result.

I have UTC (V2-V3) and TC2 (V3 to V4). I'm very happy with both programs, BUT they are atrociously bad at one thing. They can't handle sci-fi/superhero type 2nd skin bodysuits.

The flip side of the coin is that the old programs are very good at furry type skins

Can someone try out these types of conversion and post the results.

There is a demo. It is also included in the demo version of Reality Paint. It overlays the texture with watermarks, but you can get an idea of how it works :)

And yes.. Ryan and Alyson of course. I just couldn't remember what they were called :)

I also hope for support for the G2s. (More than Rex and Roxie.. they may be the new ones but they're....  well  not my type L)

Eblank, the file size is 135, 417, so you are missinga tiny bit.

I would download it, but just leave it to download, don't browse to other sites etc.

Sometimes it's a little dropout just at the end that can cause the prob.

I have quite a few V4 MR skins that allow freebies, and DON'T have anything in the read me about not using on other characters!!

The main thing to do is ALWAYS read the read me file for what you can and cannot do.

I have the same problem. I'm on a mac and did live it to download but it didn't work:-(

What are people using to unzip?

I used 7Zip and had no probs, perhaps using another unzipper may help.

My mac use to unzip automatikly when finished the downloads.

There's a thread about this in the contact forum at Hivewire. 

I imagine they'll fix it soon.  IME, they're pretty good about it, even on weekends.

I was thinking along the same lines. This could mean that V4 merchant ressources (of which I have quite a few) would be usable to make Dawn textures, too :)

I haven't checked the resulting textures in Photoshop yet, but judging from how well they render when applied, I'd say they are pretty good. I haven't seen visible seams either. That's not saying there aren't any, but I haven't encountered them yet :)

The docs are non-existant and the interface workflow could use some work, but the results are flawless! There is a good thread in the Hivewire Forum about how to do it, including step by step instructions.

It's what the Dawn community (and soon the Rex/Roxie fans) has been waiting for. And yess. PLEASE add support for Tyler and Ana!!!!!

I test-drived the Demo of konan's TTransformer and it did it, by transforming my old V4 textures I did myself to Dawn without the hassle.  If only I can get realityPaint/Blacksmith3d to work on my machine, but this one's a winner.  I wish they can keep the sale on rdna 'til October, I snag it.

I am not happy with it

I get an error vcount is out of sync after the conversion has begun and the program aborts. I used Mihrelle's Gaby as the texture source applied to a default V4

The UI lacks severely as well, it feels like going back to the days of Windows v1

Here is a V4 skin (Alice), as well as a V3 skin which I had previously converted to V4 using TC2.  Both are seamless conversions and the results are worth the money paid for it.

Here is Dawn with V4 Black Ultra Kit by Vickie Davalos, and it is seamless to :-)

Procrastination pays off.  RDNA is offering 50% of on Texture Transformer.

I have been using TC and TC2 for quite some time and like them.  So, when this texture converter for Dawn arrived, of course, i was curious to see how it works.  I do like it, but there are several points I would like to discuss.

First of all, although the little movie is helpful, it wouldn't be too much to ask for a decent PDF tutorial.  The second point relates to setting up a special runtime for this process.  I found that, if I created a separate runtime structure with all the necessary elements copied into it, the program ran better/faster.  (It was briefly mentioned in the movie about placing the elements in a runtime, but it wasn't elabotated on.)

I also discovered that it is best to use only the basic texture maps for V4 for this process, stripping out all the other texture information.  Perhaps for faster and more RAM-rich computers this would not be necessary, but my desktop is no rocket, it's more like a little golf cart, so I have to try to do whatever I can to overcome my computer's shortcomings.

The texture I transformed is Aery_Soul's Alice Faerie texture...was part of Alice's second iteration, I believe.  The material room set up for the original texture is a jungle of nodes, and the Transformer just could not handle them (on my machine, anyway).  So I cleaned up the material room set up.  

I saved the output Dawn textures as low quality JPGs, since I wasn't certain my machine would be able to accomplish even that.  But it did...I also ran EZSkin2 to achieve the SSS.  I did nothing else to the texture.  Lights are default P9 lights with one light rotated more to the front.

If you are using DS, this might help

"If you're using a cr2 file generated in DAZ, just open it in a file editor and remove the " around geometry designation.
It should solve the problem."

i'm using PP14.  i ran the demo once before i bought & got that to work, but the purchased one (with the lastest download) isn't working at all.

No idea then.  Just a thought though, do you still have the demo?  Can you apply the key to it?

yes i already tried running the demo but it won't let me apply the key, plus it's giving me the same vcount error.  but thanks anyway.

for the record, i finally got it working.  the vcount error seems to be related to where the source images are located; once i made sure the source cr2, the source textures, & the transformed textures were in the same runtime the program ran fine. (yay! :))

Odd. I have my V4 in one runtime and Dawn in another. Not even on the same physical drive, and haven't seen that error. But great that you got it working. AND found the culprit, in case others get that same error :)

i think it's not so much where v4 & dawn are but more where the source texture folder is....but whatever, i'm glad to get it working.  

Perhaps :) I saved my textured V4's to the same folder as the original v4 (Daz people) - and the finished textures in my pose/HiveWire folder :)
