This is the other thread about this bug.I got one successful Poser run just now, and I loaded a character from the library, but Poser crashed on render. Next run, the library did not appear.
Perhaps something official or unofficial (spyware?) on the internet is messing about with or poking about in people's Poser runs' libraries.
Here is something interesting... (stupid google)... I tried to do another search, instead of "Poser wont load libraries" or some version of that, I accidentally typed Poser 8 (I forget it is 8, its 2010 to me)... One choice that came up was "Poser 8 blank library"... Which led to this from SM: https://support.smithmicro.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2211/~/poser-8-blank-library
I cant get their method to work... but its not a surprise since it only covers Internet Explorer and not Safari.
I hope this method works for you... but it shows there is some connection to something internet related.
There was an update to Air the other day...

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."You need to adjust your firewall settings to allow the library code to access the localhost (127.0.0.1)
When you disconnect from the internet, it allows the internal connection. Once you hook to it again, it is blocking the library.

A friend of me has the same Problem on both of her MAC. And it has nothing to do with her Firewall.
The Library stopp worked from one day to the next. She change no settings, nowhere.
I have some daubts about a worst Spyware they catch up somewhere.

I am on a desktop PC, which automatically connects to the internet on boot-up. How can I drop the internet connection using keyboard and mouse?, rather than going on all fours behind my computer table and finding which wire and unplugging it.

Just now I unplugged my internet link (it is a "fast link" via a telephone line) & called a Poser job. The library window displayed blurred, overlain with an error window. I clicked OK on the error window, & the library came up OK & I did Poser work with it.
But with my internet link plugged in so I can post this message, the library fault is back.
Quote - How many of you are using Chrome and what version of Flash Player
This includes Mac, not just Windows.
For those who don't know him, John is on the SM Poser Support Team.
If you are using Firefox, the Flash version can be found by typing about:addons into the address bar...
EDIT Whoops; for Windows, Poser uses the Flash plug-in for IE, so that might not be relevant under Windows...

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."My son has just checked as well and Poser 8 again, using FF and latest version of flash has the same problem on his laptop.
A friend is using P9 on a desktop, with Chrome and IE installed and has no problems with the latest Flash version.

I feel bad for anyone using Google or Bing to search for this problem... I just googled a few of the search terms I used yesterday (in both) and neither Google or Bing found this, the other threads here at Rendo, or the 3 or four other threads I started about this at other sites... That pretty much sucks for someone who doesn't visit certain forums much.
Is anyone else able to confirm that disconnecting from the internet will load the library?
This could work as a short term solution...
Edited to add- For me, on my machine I do not find any problems if I reconnect to the internet AFTER the library loads... Poser works fine as far as I see... if I shut it down though, I will have to disconnect from the internet again next time I open it, to get the library to load...
So if you just disconnect for the loading process, you can still use the internet... I'm doing it now... and Poser is still working.
No Chrome.
Using Pale Moon (optimized Firefox build).
Poser 8 is frozen. PP 2010 works but AIR is frozen. Frozen in AIR means that it draws the frame portion but nothing where the libraries themselves show up. Have to Task Manager destroy them. Not responding is the message in TM. The window doesn't fade like a hung app.
Poser 9 and higher all work perfectly fine, Pro or otherwise.
Win 8, 64-bit with zero issues elsewhere.
.
I just dragged out my old laptop which hasn't had Windows Update run on it in quite some time, but Flash apparently auto-updated, as it is at 11.8.800.94. WIndows XP 32-bit and Poser 8 and pp2010; no Chrome.
The Poser Pro 2010 external library doesn't work, either. The Libraries do work if I disable my wireless card...

The Wisdom of bagginsbill:
"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."For PP2010, I copied over the LSMGUI.exe and LSMGUI.swf files from PP2012 and the external library seems to work.

The Wisdom of bagginsbill:
"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."OK, My son has Just run a trial, Downloaded 11. 8.800.94, uninstalled previous flash verson and installed that. Poser still had no libraries. He then unisntalled Adobe Air, and Poser is now working properly again
So it would appear to be something to do with the latest Flash and Adobe Air updates.

I copied over the Runtime/ui/Flex directory from PP 2012 to Poser 8 and the P8 Library now seems to work...
EDIT, I reverted P8 to the original Flex folder, and simply replacing LSMGUI.swf with the PP2012 version seems to fix it, so that file is likely the culprit...

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."I know everyone has done this... but I am getting some reports of this fixing the issue this evening.
One, make sure your Poser 8 has the last Update installed (installed when Poser is not running)
Make sure your system is fully up to date
Also, make sure you have rebooted your system.
Those that had the issue and it has disappeared, please contact Support. Those that still have the issue, despite being fully up to date and having rebooted... please also contact Support.

After rebooting, the P8 Library now works on XP...

I have Poser 8. It also accesses the library left over from my Poser 4. I usually work in that Poser 4 library
Today it started not displaying my Poser 4 library properly :: e.g. controls including the slide were missing or did not work. This persised despite uninstalling and reinstalling my Poser 8. Is this due to my Poser 4 library getting too big?
What is the allowed maximum size (in folders and in files) of a library under Poser 8? And under Poser 10?
Can I clear the jam merely by going into the Poser 4 library in the directory explorer and deleting some entries? Or what needs to be done?
Should I get rid of the Poser 4 library and transfer everything into the Poser 8 library? Or what?
Is it time I got Poser 10? How long would it take to come?
