Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 11 3:50 am)
IDL adds the light that bounces off from props, figures and the background. You still need a "proper" light source: Either one of the conventional lights or a simple prop with a strong ambient value. I suggest you start by adding one of BagginsBill's environment spheres to an empty scene, add a figure, enable IDL, add a single infinite light and see what happens. You also need Gamma Correction enabled and set to 2.2 for IDL to work properly. Your figure skin shaders need correct Gamma Correction, too, so download SnarlyGribblys SceneFixer and EZSkin scripts.
Ok, thanks for the explanation.
This seems to work a bit different than I am used to from DAZ Studio. There you had something called "Uber Environment2" which could be set as an indirect light source. I loved it for all kinds of night scenes. Therefore I just added an UE2, set it to indirect lightning, gave it a light blue tint and lowered the intensity to about 20%. This gave me a very smooth and even light all over the scene - perfect for moonlight.
But this was DAZ Studio. Now I am a Poser user and there is a lot new to learn.
Here's another tut on lighting that you may want to experiment with. I've had some excellent results.

I use Bagginsbill's, and he also has several other items you may want to dl for your work: https://sites.google.com/site/bagginsbill/free-stuff/environment-sphere

Hello!
I have read that one of the big advantages of Poser 10 is its implementation of IDL. But I dont know how to use it.
When I add a light to my scene, I can choose infinite, spot, point and IBL. But IBL is not IDL, right?
So, how can I add IDL to my scene?
