Subject: What is the matter with my M4?

I had to reinstall poser pro 2014 recently and ever since my michael 4 character will not accept morphs properly.  Victoria 4 and Dawn work correctly and none of the other content I have seems to have an issue but Michael just won't cooperate.  I have tried various commercial character morph packages and it happens on every single one of them.  I use Eryk from RDNA as an example because it is very easy to see but it happens on everything I have.

When I load michael he has a darker gray area on his groin area.  When morphs packages are injected they just don't seem to "take" in that area.  Materials work fine in that area but the morphs are messed up.  I have a clean install of poser pro 2014 with service pack 3.  I have also uninstalled M4 and all his morphs I purchased from DAZ studio and reinstalled them completely.  Nothing seems to help.

The attached image is an example JPG of michael 4 with and without the Eryk body moph applied.  I think the issue is clear in the image but if not I can supply other images.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am tearing out my hair over this.

Don't worry about the darkended texture in the hip area - this happens by default if you load the original M4 in Poser (looks normal in DAZ Studio). If you use other MATs this will not happen. And if you use EZ's EZSkin2 it will vanish anyway.

Concerning your "Eryk" morph: did you install the 'Base M4' morphs and the 'Morphs ++ M4'? They are needed for other "commercial character morph packages" as "Eryk".

Since V4 works fine you will be able to install M4 too.

I have all the m4 morph packs, and used the DAZ Install Manager to put them into my runtimes.  However, after fooling around I did figure out that the elite morphs are what was not working correctly. So you were spot on Mack.

Luckily my hard drive had an old download of the morphs from 2 years ago and I reinstalled them manually.  They work fine now and fixed the problem.  Apparently the daz installer does not put the elite morphs in the correct place or the files are messed up.  All of the rest of the content installed fine using the DAZ Install Manager so go figure.

did you run the batch utility after loading m4 aand the morphs ++ package ?

 RuntimeLibraries!DAZ    file is DzCreateExpFiles-M4.bat

Nope I didn't, I hadn't had to run a file on anything else and didn't for morphs ++ and it works fine. Guess I missed where it instructed me to run that on M4 elite.  I did run DZCreateEXPFiles-m4.bat because I thought that updated things but I guess I really didn't understand the installation process.

Yes, DzCreateExPFiles-m4.bat makes the master list of available morphs that the cr2 reads in when you load a new Michael 4 from the library, so it needs to be run every time you add a new ExP expansion set. That is what markschum was asking you.

Running the bat file is required every time a different morph package is installed.  So perform the following sequence: install Morph++, run bat file, install Elite, run bat file, etc.  Just keep in mind, this procedure will only update your base model, not any previous model already saved back into your library prior to the package installations.

You don't need to run the bat file between installations, just once at the end before starting Poser - in effect it's just a specially formatted directory command, listing all of the files in set folders and putting the output as a series of readscript lines in a pz2 file.

Well if DZCreateEXPFiles-m4.bat is what I was supposed to run to update the elite morphs I had done that.  It was one of the things I did when I couldn't get the morphs to work right although now I will run it whenever I install anything for M4.  So I still don't get why the elite morphs didn't install correctly using the DAZ Install Manager, but it works now so I am happy.  Thanks for all the replies and help.
