Bottom of the page "animation" Poser Pro 14 / Poser 10 "Animate Rigid Body and Soft Body Effects with Bullet Physics"
There's some video's right below that.
Didn't see anyrope tutorails at youtube . Have no idea how it would work.
Blender's free has a lot of highend tools. There's all ways the highend app's.

"I'm looking for a way to have a model hold a rope, and have that rope drag across objects, floor etc, changing shape as it is dragged"That sounds like a job for Ajax' Easy Pose stuff, although I don't know if it would be helpful for the stairs animation. I've never used it much myself, but a quick Google search came up with this freebie item. You might want to see if Ajax has a store some place. I think he invented Easy Pose.
I found a tube that has many dials to pose, but I really don't want to do it myself. Call me lazy, but..
Since hair room calculates every frame, and appears to have gravity, wind etc., it would seem to me that a single (really thick) dynamic hair, would work, but I'm ignant.
I don't have poser 2014, didn't seem worth the upgrade as yet. They need to add graphics card cuda core processing for renders, cloth and hair. Then I would buy it in a heartbeat. I usually only do animations using preview because it takes so darn long. But using dynamic hair lately, I kinda love it. :)
As far as clothifying a rope prop, would you clothify all frames of the animation? Not sure how that would work.
Thanks to all. Much appreciated.
I haven't mess with Poser dynamics since Poser 5.
I don't know even if Pro 14 could do what you want.
but with Poser Pro 12 I guess you would rig one end or attach a ball "make the ball invisable at render" and drag the rop across everything.
after you made the rope dynamic.
your just half to test things out and see what works.

Load an easy rope (e.g. 20ftRope).
Load a Ball primative.
Position Ball next to bone_1 of the Rope figure.
Make the Ball the parent of the Rope Body.
Create a new Bullet Physics simulation.
Set Rope figure to be Soft Dynamic.
Set the Ball (and Ground and stairs etc) to be Choreographed.
Move the Ball to different positions at different keyframes.
Run the simulation.
I am not an expert with Bullet. But for this demo, I found setting the Rope's "Linear stiffness" affected the elasticity of the rope; and "Linear Damping" to affects it's flexibility.
Note. The easyrope figure does not maintain it's shape and it turns into something like a ribbon. I suspect other Bullet settings would help.
Cool stuff timarender ,and just so you know this makes you the Bullet Physics rope exspert ,now. no pressure ;)

Have poser 2012 pro.
I'm looking for a way to have a model hold a rope, and have that rope drag across objects, floor etc, changing shape as it is dragged, so that it would conform to steps if the model went down the steps, or if they ran the rope would trail off from them not touching the ground if fast enough.
I thought dynamic hair or maybe some way to clothify an object, but I'm ignorant about hair and cloth.
Is this even possible or must it be done manually manipulating a rope prop? I'd like the machine to do it for me as the action is pretty intense.
Am I thinking of this all wrong?
Thank you.
