Subject: Animated or still - The big question :(

Can someone answer me something before i go mad here please? Someone take a look at this link for me to a picture that was posted in the gallery i found, its just an example so youll know what i talk about when i ask the next question! http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=4442&Start=1&Sectionid=1&MostWanted=Yes&Form.sess_id=6719904&Form.sess_key=1001497603 Ok, what i want to know is, is it possible to create an avi movie of something that looks this good or would that only be used for a still pose etc. So is it possible to have that image moving i guess is what i want to know. With the lighting textures and everything else in the pic What i mean is im having trouble keeping my textures and so on throughout the entire animation ive created. So, when your creating a scene or animation are you limited or can you export anything you like as both avi's and pictures. I hope this question makes sense to someone :)

First ...: Never use your Session-key in a hyperlink ... people can do weird things with it ... This would be enough: http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=4442 It is possible to animate everything that is viewable in a still and turn it afterwards in an avi - the question is: "How much work is it ... and is it possible without postwork on the single scenes of the avi :o)" ? Mostly Hair is postwork-work and sometimes the clothing also ... but I think that answeres your question only partially ... so the answeres: Yes - you would have no trouble keeping your textures through an entire animation (even transparency-maps). You can export (in poser) into an animation or in many rendered images that will look like a thumb-movie if you view the images quickly bit by bit :o). The image you refer to ... I think here mostly the green ball and the fog was postwork ... the rest would be made from Poser or Bryce ( This image was rendered in Bryce) Schlabber

Ok thanks! The problem is this though and as yet nobody has told me how you do it :O( If i go into the materials editor chosse a new skin texture and then go into render and render it it looks fine, but hen when you go back to your main window and move your figure it goes back to how it looks before it was rendered. Im at a total loss here really. Does anyone know where there are any really good tutorials for beginners on how to create textures etc. Theres so much to learn with Poser its unreal. i wish there was a tablet or pill on the market where you could just swallow it and have the wealth of knowledge that you poeple seem to have :O( Very stressfull!

oh - now I know what you meant ... well - Poser hasn't the ability to render directly in your working window ... this would simply kill your Graphic Card and Processor (to much calculting then). So if you want to see the image with all the textures correct applied you have to render it ... If you want to make an animation you've to make a movie - tutorials for beginners ... hmmm - for a quick reference the poser-handbook isn't that bad ... for some beginners tutorials - yes there are some - but at the moment I don't know where they are ... Just ask for some beginner tutorials here in the Poserforum - you should get some answers and links ... mostly the folks here is very friendly :o). Good luck Schlabber

Schlabber, I think im going to scream (smiles). Im not sure you understand what im saying here though, no offnce :O) What i mean is when i click on render it renders it but only as a still. As soon as i make a movie from it the textures arent there. Does that make sense! Sorry mate, you must tthink im a right muppet but its just taking some grasping thats all :O) Many Thanks! Also do you know where i can get conforming clothing and props for the standard p4 posette and the dork! ?

When you choose "make movie", the dialog box gives you a choice between Current Display Settings Current Render Settings Current Sketch Settings. If you choose Render Settings before actually making the movie, your .AVI will include textures and everything. It will also take a VERY LONG TIME to generate, unless you have a supercomputer or something. Therefore, this choice should be saved for the last, after using the Display Settings repeatedly to get the motions set up properly. A halfway choice, good enough for some uses but probably not for yours: In the Document Display settings at lower left, click the rightmost globe for "texture shaded". This will make your non-rendered display include all textures, and in that case doing Make Movie with "Current Display Settings" will also include the textures; only the bump maps and shadows will be missing in the AVI.

Schlabber writes: "I think here mostly the green ball and the fog was postwork" The green ball is a visible light inside a ball with its texture set on "fuzzy". The fog... well, there are presets for that as well. I work almost exclusively in animation these days, and despite the fact that it takes flipping forever to render fog (I once did a one-second piece that took an entire day to render in a 400x300 window). This whole thing could have been done in Bryce without postwork.
