Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 10 10:34 am)
Install the DSON Importer to your Poser 9 folder Install the two zips for the item you want - both the core and the Poser CF - to the Poser content folder/library folder that you want to use (that is, to the folder that holds the "Runtime" folder - if you are manually unzipping you will need tot ake the files and folders out of the "Content" folder that is created in the destination folder and place them in the actual Poser content library folder). If you are using Windows Vista or later that must not be in the Program Files folder. You should then be able to find the files in the Poser libraries and load normally.
V6 in Poser 9 that is 32bit? Good luck with your RAM.
DSON is so RAM hungry it slows any 32 bit app to a crawl.
And on a side note; You loose half of V6 functionality in any Poser version.
Genesis and V6 are for DS.

I'm seeing more people actually using G2F and V6 in the rendo gallery.
I don't think it's really right nor necessary to go in every thread declaring something doesn't work, when people obviously are rendering. I really adds unnecessarily to the negativity of the forum. Honestly, if you can't help, then don't hinder.
Anyway, to the OP, do a search for JoePublic's thread on getting Genesis working in Poser, I think it explains it pretty well.
I am just now attempting to install the new DSON into Poser for the second time. The last time was over a year ago. I'm not sure why I abandoned it at that time. For the record, nothing against Daz. I abandoned Poser at the same time.
In any event...
I can see why people are confused. LOLOL.
The documentation refers to installers, and includes many steps in dealing with those installers. Only we don't have any installers any more. Just ZIPS.
The documentation also insists that I need "Genesis Starter Essentials For Poser installers You should get these files with your DSON Importer for Poser download."
But of course I didn't get these installers because there aren't any.
Is there an updated installation tutorial somewhere? Or do I need to figure out what the installers were doing and try to recreate those pathways with the ZIPS?
Edit: Oh, and does anyone know where to get the Genesis Starter Essentials For Poser?
The download manager downloaded:
Genesis2FemaleStarterEssentials
Genesis2MaleStarterEssentials
GenesisStarterEssentials
But I see no Genesis Starter Essentials for Poser anywhere.
Edit again: I'm sorry. I realize I sound very rude. I really should ask more politely. Please help, if you can. :)

I did a search for 'essentials' which brought up all files, then selected 'Genesis Essentials'.. which had the DSON and companion file downloads.
You should be able to do the similar if you're using DIM to install the files.

said it went to P9, but no V5 in DAZ people like it said. This thing
is driveing me crazy. Could'nt get V5 to show up in DS4. Must be
something I'm not doing. Help!
Did you refresh your library? It probably won't show up until you do.
@ moriador: Did you read this thread?

Thank you. That did help me find them among the other thousand files I downloaded last night!
It is working.
Round One. Ding. Ding.
The documentation needs to be updated to reflect the new file names and the fact that there aren't installers any more...
Vilters 1

Round Two. Ding. Ding.
However, Genesis 2 Female, at least, loads on this ancient machine in about 12 seconds the first time. Poses are a tad slower. Loading clothes is a tad slower. But it's not such a big deal. On my faster, newer machine, it would probably hardly be noticeable. I'll have to see, though, how it loads with a bunch of morphs. I have quite a few Genesis ones...

So far it looks like a tie, fellas. :)

It took an hour and twenty minutes to go from download to render. Not too shabby, considering what an idiot I am.

Sorry to seemingly derail your thread. But until I did it myself, I'm would be useless to help.
I just went through the process a little while ago. Are you looking for V5 textures or morphs?
If you've installed the V5 content as directed, the morphs will load into Genesis automatically. You don't have to inject them via a pose file. So you won't find a thumbnail in your library called "V5 or Victoria 5" because the morphs load with Genesis if you've installed them into your content. Just click on Genesis, and then above the parameter dials, make sure you have the body selected. You'll find the V5 morph under Female>Real World.
I don't have any V5 textures because I don't believe she comes with any on her own (or does she?). But if you have some that you bought separately, they are probably in the materials tab under Daz Genesis or the name of the vendor or product or something like that. If not you can use the Sample Lana texture that is in the Materials>Daz Genesis folder.
Edit: If I'm just way off base here, someone please correct me. But I didn't think that Victoria 5 got her own figure. I always assumed she just showed up as a morph in the Genesis figure (which she does, as does Michael 5). Is that right?

Yes, V5 is a morph of the Genesis 1. There may be presets in your character tab that loads Genesis with V5 already set up to make it easier to load into your scene.
Ok and we put up posters? , Why not change the domain to daz.com once and for all?
Luckily there are other places where we can talk about poser with moderators who fulfill their function without being interrupted for bad people (I did not put stupid to not insult anyone) with their constant ads
then they wonder that every time there are fewer people who posts here, brilliant strategy moderators in few time will not need moderators.
ps.moderators delete this because your friends may become angry

How to install and use Daz content in Poser has been a regular topic in this forum for as long as I've been a member.

There's nothing wrong with discussing the proper function and how-to's of DSON here. It is a Poser utility after all and is just as valid as discussing GoZ or any other utility.
For those who have issue with it, keep your comments to yourself.
If you don't have anything constructive to add to the topic, or an honest question about any of the info here, then just don't say anything. Read another thread. Pretend this one doesn't exist.
That's all I'm going to say about it.
Have a nice day :)

If you set your Sub-D to -1 in the parameters tab or in the Scripts->DSON->Sub-Division to Subdivision OFF (Both do the same thing) until you are ready to render the viewport will run faster, which impacts Morphs, posing, etc.
The second time you load figures they should load faster as the information is cached, and will change only when you add more morphs to the figure. :)
I needed Genesis installed in order to test some utilities I'm working on for Poser.
The instructions on the support page weren't helpful but it seems to work fine the way I did it. The documentation is dated as it says content "installers" for Genesis. There are zips.
I installed the content first (order didn't matter in this case). I unzipped Genesis 2 Female (main content then Poser content) in a folder, not merged with any existing Runtime. I only installed the content folders, not the other stuff for DAZ Installer.
I installed the DSON addon.
I added a new Runtime in Poser which is is the Runtime inside of the Genesis content folder.
Genesis 2 Female loads properly.
I don't have DS 4 installed.
I disable the addon when not working with Genesis, to reduce any overhead, by moving the "dson" folder and its contents to a new folder that I made named "addonsDisabled".

That's clever! Sweet tip.

Need a little help folks, I have never used DSON Importer before.
I was told I could use V6 in P9 by using the Importer. I thought
I'd ask you all who know a lot more about this stuff than I do.
Any help would be great. Thanks
