Subject: "Evolution" in the Adult Section **Offensive Post**

BazGibb ( ) posted Wed, 24 November 1999 at 8:15 PM · edited Wed, 13 November 2024 at 11:41 AM

oh boy - I hope to god this picture isn't the start of what the Adult section is going to be like. A monkey buggering Jesus Christ isn't my idea of art - neither is it funny. If there is much stuff like that on the site then I'm afraid Renderosity is going to lose a hell of a lot of credibility.

Ikyoto ( ) posted Wed, 24 November 1999 at 8:34 PM

AH HA! Another victum of the good Dr. Legume. If there is a way to twist someone's nads, he will find it... it's kind of an art with him. I just saw them and while i don't really have an opinion as to their artistic value from a technical point of view he could have done a bit better. The other one made me LMAO though... Be ready to get your sesabilities tested by someone. My idea of erotic doesn't include some things, but I don't tell other people not to render it - it's not real! going into any adult section is bound to uncover something you don't like. But the creator of the render has his opinion to. If you really don't like it, take it up with the person who made it. If you make enough of a stink then the whole gallery gets shot down and NO ONE gets to put up anything. I used to have a sig line: "You cannot use your rights to tell me what to do with mine." He may find two people of the same species having sex offensive... it IS Legume after all...

viper ( ) posted Wed, 24 November 1999 at 8:51 PM

I if you dont like what you see in the adult gallery then dont enter ther its that simple (by the way the image is gone someone removed it i think it violated the ne bestiality rule) I plan to you the adult gallery to post some of my questionable images I think it a great idea i just wish it was on a seperate log-in

picnic ( ) posted Wed, 24 November 1999 at 8:55 PM

Isn't Legume in charge of the adult gallery? That's what I sort of remembered. If so, then I guess he 'edited' himself. Diane B

"...apes in the plan, and we're all here to prove it. I can walk like an ape, talk like an ape, do what monkeys do. God made man, but a monkey supplied the Glue..." -DEVO Yeah, I'd say the Doc is somewhat obsessed with JC. -JH.

Nance ( ) posted Wed, 24 November 1999 at 11:13 PM

Something edgy & offensive in an adults only section? Who'd a thought!

Xurge ( ) posted Wed, 24 November 1999 at 11:47 PM

I was in the impression it was Adult Oriented Art, Not sadist, racist, pornographic art. There is a big difference.

JeffH ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 12:02 AM

I agree Xurge, we'll see what happens in time. -JH.

Jack D. Kammerer ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 12:29 AM

I think of it as people stretching their wings after having them clipped for so long :o) But yes, the image was removed to keep my skinny white tail from ending up behind bars and spending my holidays with some toothless, tattooed man named Bubba but prefers to be called Clairice... and no I didn't yank it because I found the religous aspect offensive... If people want to display JC and the Boys skipping down the yellow brick road in their skivies, who am I to pass judgement. Everyone is accountable for their own actions and will be judged accordingly... just not by me, hell, I have to worry about my own tail (see Bubba reference above) :o) Art is creative expression and it cannot be truly expressed if it is wrapped in moralistic issues that are governed by a multitude of creative individuals whose viewpoints vary. If you don't like the image you see, complain to the creator of that image. Be polite and express your views, perhaps you may find that the person is only looking for a nudge in the right direction. Jack

Greywolf Starkiller ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 1:02 AM

I'm afraid I must agree with BazGibb. I don't like Porn, but I'll simply avoid the adult gallery and that is that. But mockery of my religion, well, if the site hosts that sort of thing, then I'm gone. I agree that some people don't take religion seriously, but I do, and I won't deal with sites that mock it. Sorry, Jack, but there it is. Greywolf

JeffH ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 1:10 AM

Legume will always be Legume ;-)

Jack D. Kammerer ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 1:19 AM

Or please do so in the complaint corner, that is what is was created for to keep traffic moving in the other forums. Thank you. Jack

BazGibb ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 1:29 AM

I was only offended by the monkey aspect - which should have been picked up straight away and removed as soon as it was posted. So, despite being bestiality it was posted by someone running Renderosity, was commented on by people running Renderosity which basically gave it the thumbs up? Would it not be a good idea to have the adult section divided into mini galleries such as straight/homosexual/lesbianism etc etc so people can go to the galleries which they wouldn't find offensive. Just a thought though - why was the Coming of Jesus pic pulled? I thought that one was pretty funny.

JeffH ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 1:59 AM

Greywolf, Looks like your thread on the PFO was deleted. I got to read it first though. Baz, I don't think mini-galleries would be a good Idea. Legume is just testing the waters and things should calm down soon. -JH.

Jack D. Kammerer ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 2:08 AM

You know, that may not be a bad idea that you have there Bazgibb. Actually a damn good idea. I will have to check and see if this can be done with the software we already have. As for the the reason it wasn't pulled right away. Because I wished to talk with the creator of the image and express why the image should be removed. The same thing I would do to one of your images if I found it offending. I don't want to be like some who remove the image and then try and explain it. Rarely, when that is done, the person isn't interested in hearing any reasoning or concerns, they are usually too upset by then to listen. That is what I meant by respect. If you find something tastless and you talk to the person in a polite fashion and express your concerns, you'll find the person will listen and often times agree with you. Which is a whole lot better than starting a lynch mob and looking to hang someone. I think the person may have removed the other image of their own accord. All I know is that I didn't remove it, I did comment on it. I don't know. Jack

Jack D. Kammerer ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 2:11 AM

You don't think so Jeff? Jack

JeffH ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 2:17 AM

No I don't. We don't want to start labeling things..Adult means Adult, period. I know that's simplistic, but it does put things back into perspective. I know I wouldn't put my art in a tagged gallery, that just confines me as well as stamps the art as one thing or another. -JH.

Jack D. Kammerer ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 2:19 AM

Yep your right... and would be the same thing as censoring. I stand corrected, thanks :o) Jack

May I interject here ever so politely?? I am here as the other Administrator helping to keep the Adult forum to standards and to give it a boost in the right direction without stumbling along and falling into a taboo kinky mess. Yes, I am a little late, but better late than never, and upon my arrival I did see the particular post/posts in question, in fact, I knew they would be there. At this point, may I say, that I too am religious, and at first, upon hearing what Legume had indeed planned as a lead in to this section of the forum, I too was a might iffy. But as I thought more and more about this, I came to realize that this kind of imagery serves a purpose in it's own way, whether to promote much contraversy, which it indeed has, or to show us, as grown up Adults, just how different one person's way of thinking may be as compared to another? What more better way to initiate a contaversial Forum than to post the most contraversial of all? Has it not recieved all of your attentions?? I believe that this is exactly what Legume had in mind, and I must say it worked. Continued on next thread.......

We must remember that not everyone will see "Adult" in the same way? Some may see it as a sexy form of expression, others even more exploitive, but you will always have those that will try to break through the limits, to test the barriers. We can not run away and hide whenever this occurs, for everyone has a right to exist and stand their own ground. And what others may deem as unworthy may be deemed by others as the most beautiful Art in the world? I admit, we must draw the line, and I am sure that with time and experience we will finally begin to see just where that line is, but for now, with all due respect, we have only fragmented legalities and the wits of our good staff to realize and attempt to justify where that line is. Within this Adult Forum you will probably find many things that may offend some, or be so off the wall, you will sometimes wonder why the human race can live with itself? But is that not why it is termed "Adult"? We hope that only those mature and secure enough with their own beliefs will venture forth into the Adult Forum, for I can tell you right now, you may never know WHO may have a surprisingly different view of what is termed as Adult Art or Erotic Art and actually post it. And as part of the police maintenance for this contraversal corner of the Renderosity Forum, I can only say, wish us luck, cause we will all learn very quickly just where that "line" is drawn. 3DSprite Administrator for the Adult Forum

bloodsong ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 7:27 PM

baz! now i made a distinct point NOT to go visit the adult gallery, cause i really dont care to see that stuff. (and especially not dr legumes wonderful art he threatened us with -- he did give fair warning!) now here you are on an open forum, and you just described this offensive art to any and all who care to read about it. i might as well have just gone and seen it. in fact, i think you just spread dr legume's image to a broader audience than he did. please refrain from describing offensive art on any forum that is not designated for discussing 'adult' material. thank you.

BazGibb ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 8:04 PM

With all respect Bloodsong, although I did put it into the wrong forum in error I have actually put Offensive Post in the title which should have indicated to yourself that the post could be offensive - it was a warning in effect which you obviously failed to see. In addition, although I described the picture I did so using the correct terminology - the term "buggering" is actually a proper word and is not actually swearing. I am sorry if you are offended but may I suggest you direct the anger you have towards the people who actually produce the material you dislike rather than criticising myself - especially when I was expressing a similiar opinion to yourself - but actually had the bottle to come out and say it.

Legume ( ) posted Thu, 25 November 1999 at 10:59 PM

I've removed the image. It served it's purpose. So Baz, why don't you just drop it? You read the warning that there might be objectionable material there. You went there, looked at it, and were offended. Seems like you stepped on a dog turd after passing the "WARNING! DOG TURD AREA" SIGN. Don't expect the rest of us to wipe off your shoe. Live and learn, Baz. When you ignore the warnings, you LOSE your right to complain about the consequences. You didn't like what you saw there. So don't go back. It's really that simple.

BazGibb ( ) posted Fri, 26 November 1999 at 1:28 AM

Thanks for your comment Legume. "You read the warning that there might be objectionable material there. You went there, looked at it, and were offended." I did indeed read the warning - I also didn't think that the first picture I would look at contained material which was stated in the disclaimer as being "not allowed" - the other picture didn't offend me at all - I even posted a thread asking why it was deleted becasue it was funny.... Surely, as much as it is peoples right on this forum to praise work, it is also their right to critisise? It is also my right to post my opinion, whether you or anyone else agrees with it. The red mist has ascended from my eyes to be honest now Legume, and of course I've been back to the Adult section where there are pictures which I consider much more mainstream :) As for my comment about Bloodsongs point, I thought my reply was perfectly legitimate - in fact I could even quote your comment "Seems like you stepped on a dog turd after passing the "WARNING! DOG TURD AREA" SIGN" because I did post OFFENSIVE POST in the message header.... I even apologised if it was found to be offensive. Take care bud.

Legume ( ) posted Fri, 26 November 1999 at 9:11 AM

No prob, Baz. When I was in the military, I learned that the best way to make sure there were no enemies in a room is to toss in a grenade to clear it out. That's what I did with the Evolution pic. My way of ferreting out the people who'll complain despite the warnings, so I could show them what they're in for. I like to put the cards on the table right from day one. As anyone can see, the room, now cleared, contains pretty much mainstrean erotica. But that "grenade" served it's purpose. It was a loud and clear warning..."be prepared for ANYTHING". I actually have an idea for several images that I'll be posting there that are of an "unusual" nature. And hoo-boy, just wait until "Mosca" from the Poser newsgroup finds this place...he has TONS of Poser bondage images. Not to mention Christine Allison might just bend a few minds with some "chix with dix pix"...

BazGibb ( ) posted Fri, 26 November 1999 at 12:13 PM

rofl - yeah well funny enough since you have described it in THAT way then I can see it will be for the benefit of the long run - you crafty get! :)

bloodsong ( ) posted Sat, 27 November 1999 at 5:38 PM

well, whatever. point #1: i couldn't imagine anybody posting something offensive on the forum team contact board... so i guessed 'offensive post' referred to something you saw somewhere else. not what you were about to make. and, okay, i confess... i shouldn't'a tried to get a cheap thrill by hearing people complain about this or that or whatever image. humor me, i dont have much of a life. point #2: it doesnt matter if you use scientific nomenclature or laymans terms. my point is, you could have said you wanted to comment on the work entitled 'evolution' by dr legume. whomever had seen the work would know what you meant. re-describing it here was extraneous. oh well. dr legume: hey! .... now that is an idea! toss out the offense-grenade, and then whoever complains, ban them from the adult gallery! then you wont have any future problems, hm? :) (i can see this being the new standard in the future: on your sign up form to have access to restricted areas, it asks you to look at this dr. legume special. and if you STILL want to access stuff like that, THEN they will grant you permission. you should market it, like safe surf! :D )

BazGibb ( ) posted Sat, 27 November 1999 at 8:23 PM

Thanks very much for your comments and agree with them whole-heartedly. Again I apologise for offending you. In fact I appear to be a hypocrite for whinging about Legumes picture being offensive, then being offensive myself! As it happens the red mist has ascended from my eyes now and I'm just enjoying the forum for what it is - a great place for people with the same interests to utilise for the benefit of other members. Take care, and keep producing quality stuff!
