Subject: Need to reinstall Poser Pro 2014 due to windows 7 failure, I cannot find my down

rowlando ( ) posted Tue, 27 May 2014 at 2:04 AM · edited Mon, 04 November 2024 at 5:19 PM

I have pp2014 working but its missing some start up files that a new install would fix I think.  I do not have my files for orriginal install nor can I download from smith micro because I did not buy longer download availabilty ( thats a crap upsell) anyhow I have a problem.

I have my code for it and thought I saved the install files with it but alas the file only contains a text doc with my code in it.

The files should be on my PC somewhere just no Idea what the files are named or how to find them.

Any help woud be great thanks

Try searching your machine's hard drives for Poser.exe if its Windows. Ifits Mac I'll have to tell you later.

All I have found so far is

Install_Poser_Pro_2014_Win_SR__2.2.exe

I don't think this is actual program just the SR update I think?

The file name I have is 'Install Poser Pro 2014 (10.0.0.24941)' but I used the Download Manager so it is in a folder marked 'SmithMicroDLM/Installed'.  Unfortunately I cannot tell you the exact location as I back up all my install and content files to a seperate hard drive, with Poser I go back as far as Poser 5

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Thanks hornet3d  I also downloaded my PP2014 so I will serch for the names you have given.

I find it strange I have back to Poser 6 and I upgraded each time the only ones missing are PP2014 but the folder has the serial only text file left.

Cheers

If I remember rightly, I think Poser 2014 was the first time they used the Download Manager so the fact that this is the only file missing may be related in some way.

Although you probably don't want to do it, Smith Micro will sell you the download extention at any time.

Do a hard drive search for SmithMicroDLM

It should be there somewhere, unless it's been deleted.

You could well be right, I hope you are for the OPs sake.  I found a second copy of SmithMicroDLM (I have one copy on by backup drive) in the Download Folder on my D drive but then I probably downloaded it there as I keep all downloads and most programs on my D drive as the C drive is an SSD.

I just tried the address in my confirmation email and it still works; I purchased it last May, so it's been over a year.  The file name indicates that it's post-SR3.1.  It is SmithMicro-DownloadManager-Win_1.0.3.26732.exe

If you don't have the email, and have Poser Debut, the update page for it downloads the Download Manager.  (you will need the debut serial number) You could then try entering the PP2014 serial after installing it and see if it will download 2014...

Hey all thanks so much I think its solved:

I found a file as per hornet3d suggests under user name then I found the  download manager file. Run the file to install download manager it asked for my serial it then installed and I then had to install the serial again and it took me to all the downloads to install for PP2014 so I am now in the process of doing it.

what a relief.

My windows 7 system crashed and smashed. I got a new hd put in but was able to access the old drive and see all my installed files. But needed to reinstall programs on the new HD. This is what I have been doing.

Thanks so much for the help Rowlando
