Subject: Face Putty

The information that I found online didn't really say how to adapt the control cage to an unsupported character, but only that it could be done in a 3D modelling software.

How is this done?

Or, better yet, has anybody already made cages for M4, V4, etc., that I could download or buy?

Quote - what's Face Putty?

It's one of the tools in the Poser Toolbox that you can get from PhilC.

Daz Studio 4.8 and 4.9beta, Blender 2.78, Sketchup, Poser Pro 2014 Game Dev SR5 on Windows 8 Pro x64. Poser Display Units are inches

Just load the figure and the cage into any 3D modeling application and shape the cage as required.

You can even make a new cage from scratch if required providing that you keep the same naming convention. Suggest that you keep the vertices under 100 or else Poser will slow down too much when the magnets are applied.

Phil, so you're saying to just shape the cage around the figure's face? I'm still just learning this stuff, I don't know my way around any 3d modelling applications yet. I have Blender, Hexagon, and Blacksmith3d.  Which one of those is it easiest to do that in? I'm trying to learn all of this at the same time, and it frequently makes me feel like my brain is going to melt, so please have mercy and give easy to follow instructions for how to to shape that cage to the character's head in any one of those programs.

Is it possible to use the face putty on a character who has already been morphed? I noticed when I loaded it in Poser that it automatically resets the character.  Is there a way around this? Like, if I am trying to do some reshaping on a head that I have already changed the features on.

Easiest? That could be debated until the cows come home :)

Suggest sticking to one and learning that. I used Truespace for years but then for various reasons I found I needed to translate to another so went with Blender.

Face Putty starts with a fully zeroed figure but yes you can easily dial in your morph again. Just be aware that unles you undial it again it will get included in any new morph you create.
