No error messages, nothing?

The render window still contains my last file and still renders okay but wihtout thte main window I cant do any work.

This is the preview window?

Do you get the preview tab at the top next to the Render tab or just the Render tab.

One thought is maybe an OpenGL problem, have you tried switching to SreeD (menu Display->Preview Drawing)

Attached Link: Solving weird issues with Poser by removing the preferences

If Poser crashes or starts behaving oddly for no apparent reason, it may be that its preference files have been damaged or corrupted. Removing the damaged files will restore Poser to its factory default settings and may fix problems that won't go away otherwise. This won't remove any additional figures, props or poses that you might have installed.

Have a look at the link attached to learn how to delete your poser preferences.

No, the window with the tabs Preview and Render is still there plus the Poser Library panel.

Its the main Poser window that has the editing tools, Camera controls, light controls, Plus all of the tabs (Pose, Material, Face, Hair, Cloth, setup & content) etc that has disapered.

I'm used to the library going walkabout but not the main work screen?

There was no crash, error messages or dump files?

Doh, maybe I should have just posted a photo of the tee-shirt I'm wearing at the moment - it says "have you tried turning it off and on again". Good you found a solution.
