Not going to happen - 3dUniverse has ceased developement on Texture Converter.  I would suggest adding your voice over on the Subject: Texture Transformer: "Additional Transformations based on community demand" thread over on the Blacksmith3D forum.

They won't build additional modules if we don't nag them about it.

Why does there seem to be a contradiction in what we render and what we watch in movies then if sex is the  key factor when if comes to using male figures over female? We don't mind watching Wonder Woman or Lara Croft standing there and looking pretty, but when it comes to bad guys get their collective asses kicked, we'd rather see Batman or Bruce Lee.

Because, despite it being utterly counterintuitive, I think the popularity of females in the Poser universe is due to the larger number of women who take part in the hobby.

In male dominated arenas -- movie production, for instance -- you see a lot more male characters. Same in higher end CGI production -- lots of males being sculpted, rigged, rendered. And from what I can see, most of them are "tough guy" types.

The fact that a lot of the stuff you see being posted in Poser galleries is made up of pinups gives the impression that it's all young horny men driving the market. But I think that's only part of it. The overwhelming dominance of V4 has more to do with women buying her and her content. Look at how many vendors are female! Lots of them. And they aren't just making content for V4 because they think it will sell better. Most, I expect, are making content for V4 because that's what they want to make.

As I mentioned earlier, it's the "Barbie effect". :)

And who wants to see Barbie kicking some guy's ass? (Unless we really want to imagine him being thoroughly and completely humiliated) :D

It's like any other poser market. Some people make a good living selling just a few high quality or high demand pieces. While others only make pocket change with 2 or 3 times as many products.

Check out page one, the post made at 5:38, that's the answer!

Listen, it's just the way it is, see, technically females are designed to attract men so that they can get impregnated by them and life goes on.  It's why we have boobies and curves and other bits!!!  Men haven't got those bits, so basically, they're screwed from the start, men are basically just tools used by the women.

Have you ever heard of a man fluttering his eyelashes and giving an innocent look to get his own way?  Of course not, because it would never work, and he'd be totally banned from the showers if he did.

Men see women as sex objects and creatures of beauty.  Women see men as a sort of multi-tool; something that can give them pleasure, put up shelves, and look after them.

Just thought I'd educate you humans because you're clearly very mixed-up!!!

Later,
Roxie - Girl With Blade

Wait and see. All I will say is I have done research. :cough: Of a sort. Many results were inconclusive. And most too vague to be useful unless you actually wanted poRn. But my Muse and I agree that if the futanari crowd (look it up, just be careful as it's definitely NSFW) can put "toast" on girls then we can have boys with something extra too.

LOLOL. I'm going to guess you've never been married. Because this is exactly what my hunk of a man does to me (he also has to add a tiny pout to his bottom lip and hunch his shoulders in a way that indicates utter misery) -- and it works. Every. Single. Time. It's been working for 18 years, and I don't expect it stop working any time soon.

He's hardly "banned from the showers". I have no idea what you mean by that, anyway. If you mean that other men would find him too "unmasculine" or something bizarre, it doesn't make sense. He doesn't use the technique on other men. And no one is going to seriously question his masculinity, in any case. It's just not an issue. :D :D

Oh, I'd read that. Heck, I do read that, just not as well written. Unfortunately it seems more of the pro M/M romance writers produce works of lower quality than you'd find on many of the slash fanfiction sites. Only they expect you to pay ridiculous prices for their often-unedited, badly proofed novels. The real gems, alas, are few and far between.

Back on topic, getting ready to upload my pic now. Does anybody know what the allowed file sizes are? I've hunted all over but can only find info on thumbnail sizes. Oh, and do I still need a nudity warning if there are tassels involved? The other bits are covered.

Yeah, you women can scoff, but at least I've learnt something after reading those replies; something I know will work if I find a woman crazy enough to marry me!

So basically, if I upset her for some reason and get banned from the bedroom, I just have to stick my bottom lip out and huddle my shoulders.  It's good to know it's that easy and that it works every time!  Without that knowledge I'd have been inclined to sleep on the sofa until she was asleep, then I would have just creeped back into bed all stealthy like!

You do realize that women are individuals, right? :D

There's no guarantee that what works on one will work on another. Or that what works when one man does it will work when another man does it.

You could pout and hunch all you liked, and I'd probably just giggle at ya.

I was just pointing out that neither sex is immune to "the innocent look".

And don't pretend as though that look works for all women on all men -- because that's obviously untrue. If it did, I'd be able to walk out of any electronics store with a 55 inch TV just because I looked coy.

As it is, when I walk into an electronics store, I am invisible to every male member of the sales staff under the age of 60. If the 55 inch TV's weren't tagged to set off the alarms, I probably COULD walk out with one for free. Not because I'd charmed the guys, but because women like me don't register on the male radar. :D :D

P.S. Do women still ban men from the bedroom? I thought that went out in the late '60s!

Um, that all depends on your point of view. ;-)  I don't do futanari. Not that I don't like it but because it seems everybody is doing it. Just like I don't do NVIATWAS for the same reason, even though when I was able to do traditional art in my teens & 20s, skimpily-armoured Amazon goddesses were my favorite subjects to draw. Not wanting to be boring, I sorta veered in the opposite direction towards male subjects. Which in Poserdom seems to be a minority. I think I saw maybe 2 or 3 male pinups in the gallery here yesterday, while I lost count of all the naked/mostly naked Vickys. Not that they weren't good naked Vickys, mind you, but after awhile they all tend to sorta blur together in the mind's eye.

Asian, however, I can do, quite happily. Even worse than the glut of Naked Vickys is the massive horde of White Naked Vickys (and Naked Genesis's) All The Time. And I expect it to get worse, because according to the vendors, ethnic characters don't sell. Just like male products and, if you're into Genesis, Poser-compatible products don't sell. :eyeroll:

GI Joe, on the other hand, was anything but boring. I used to steal my kid brother's all the time. Maybe we should start referring to the male 3d models as "Action Figures". Which unlike poor Ken, are certainly not boring.

Exactly. :) I see more renders of Luthbel's Veteran War Dog than of her Jack of Hearts. Of course, only she (and Daz) would know which sold better. Galleries aren't necessarily a good indicator of popularity.

In that case, it was that I had a project requiring really good military gear for M4 but the fantasy/elf outfits all got wishlisted because it wasn't needed immediately. :sigh: Sometimes it's a matter of priorities and there is only so much money to go around. Quality sets that I can get more than one or two uses out of, that I can put with other stuff to make whole new looks and can use on other figures whether it's via DS Autofit or CrossDresser will always get my dollar.

Nabbed me some of that Luthbel stuff, as luck would have it the Arien textures also went on sale. Still a few I had to pass up on, though, trying to stretch my dollars even with the sale. Hope they do a catch-up, then maybe I'll be in luck next payday.

Content Advisory! This message contains profanity

Wow, I remember I use to ask this question a thousand times over and over on any place that sold Poser products and what not. The female figures have way more stuff, clothes, hair, poses, everything. I found it rather odd how Daz went from M4 to M5 and eventually M6 yet M4 still lacks so much. When a person uses a weak and pathetic argument attempt like "Female models are easier to work with, or male characters don't have that much clothing exceptions." I think, well try looking into the video game world for ideas. Type in Dynasty Warriors 8 and you'd see a variety of badass male clothing if your interested in cool ancient Chinese attire. Or use Mortal Kombat as a good reference, any video game or comic book like Japanese anime/Manga you can find some damn good male ideas. Tekken, Metal Gear Solid, Vampire Hunter D, Castlevania, etc. just to name a few. I think people are just lazy or feel that female models are better by default and when you fail to see that there is so much source material out there that can help you come up with ideas for creating more products for male. You can't be lazy in the process, you have to look around, talk to people, do some research and you will find a lot of amazing things.

I wish I had the skills to do male clothing and hair, I would definately take a shot at it. I do a lot of story based work, and I often hate the fact I have way more females in my plots than males, all because I can't find that much for M4 to work with.

But again there is a lot of great source material you can use from Video Games, Comic Books, Manga's, hell even movies. Females get a lot of attention these days simply for being well "hot." But there should be much more to a character, and figure besides their physical appearances.

I would love to see some more male items in the stores. Daz has a sale going right now, and I've tried to grab just about every M4 outfit I could get before prices go back up again. I have a huge library of Clothes, hair, and Morphs for V4, barely any for M4 or my Kids. But I might be switching to Genesis for my Teen and Kid models since they can use all the Genesis clothes which will automatically work for all Genesis models.

I feel that just because men in the real world are so dull and boring when it comes down to fashion sense. Doesn't mean the same laws have to apply to art. I mean why limit males to just suits, and casual or historical gear? Males can be just as wild and adventerous as females in the artistic world. It's like how some women actually come up to me all the time and say "I wish more men had long hair." Apparently the standard appearance for most men in the real world is boring, average. Unless the dude is into some sort of Goth lifestyle sub-culture where he's not chicken to wear makeup, and wild clothes. I know a Russian guy on Facebook who wears all kinds of crazy Goth gear. And the ladies love it. But he looks like a female in most of his pictures because he goes for the whole theatrical look.

That is why I felt in the art world, people often apply reality basics to developing male characters. Unless we look to Comic books and video games. You can find a massive variety of different styles for men that would make the process so much more easier for anyone looking to do male figures justice.

moriador ( ) posted Fri, 13 June 2014 at 12:15 AM · edited Fri, 13 June 2014 at 12:21 AM

Cyberdene, I totally agree. Tons of inspiration in games -- and movies. We have Game of Thrones to thank for half of Daz's latest PC releases. :) You don't have to copy exactly to come up with something cool.

The recent sales have been a boon. I've been picking stuff up here and at Daz. And at RDNA (they've had nice prices on stuff for native Poser figs). But it has always been a shortage of content for the "niche" figs, like males (hah) and kids, that drove me to give Genesis a try.

Edit: And long hair looks great on many guys. I wouldn't say on most guys -- so if you can pull it off, it will attract attention. Fantasy and historical depictions of men (from Vikings to mid 19th century to the classic "barbarian") usually include long hair, and the longer the hair, the tougher the man.
