Subject: I lost my Hair!!!

Philywebrider ( ) posted Sun, 27 July 2014 at 10:56 AM · edited Thu, 23 January 2025 at 12:22 PM

I purchased Daz big cat 2 -Real fur for Big Cat 2-White Tiger for Big Cat 2-and Look At My Hair FREE.

I installed all through Install Manager. They are no longer on the install manager list so I assume they are installed.

All but "Look at my hair-Free" I can't find it or any means to grow hair. Can anybody please help?

I know the problem is me,I'm new to DAZ Studio.

The FREE version is a player only.

It allows you to load most pre-made Look at my Hair presets or .duf scenes,
modify color and shader properties, hair count, thickness and so on.

You need the paid version to create presets.

The player is invoked from pane tab

There is documentation available.

I know the free version is play only, that's I purchased Real Fur for big Cats 2, and The White Tiger. My problem is Look at My Hair FREE isn't showing up on the Window> Pane (Tab) listing. I went to the Documation first, and as far as I know, everything was installed correctly.

Medzinater, I notice that Look at My Hair is listed on the column to the left of thr Windows.Pane (Tab) listing. What is that listing?

Maybe I need to uninstall Look at My Hair FREE, and re-install it. Can anyone tell me how to do that?

Right. I had the same problem. Was there when I installed it, used it once, then it vanished never to be found again. I assumed it was a one shot freebie that uninstalled it's self after the first use. The look at my hair folder is still in the studio folder but gone from the menus after the first use.

Philywebrider ( ) posted Mon, 28 July 2014 at 10:50 AM

DAZ never mentions a "one Time Use" of Look at My Hair FREE. I was thinking of uninstalling Look at My Hair FREE and reinstalling, I don't know how to uninstall.

You may want to post in the thread maintained by the developers on the DAZ forums - certainly the LaMH player should go on working, it isn't a one-shot demo.

It's for the Player control panel.  You can modify a limited amount of presets.

In folder where you have DS executable there is sub folder called "Uninstallers".

run executable associated with feature you want uninstall. The names are fairly clear

Not in my folder. The only thing there is the uninstaller for Studio.

I did find the interface designer, I don't think any one uses. Not sure why, it was an announced feature when Studio 4 was first released, but I haven't seen any after market UIs for Studio.

Ok, reinstalled, didn't uninstall because it wasn't there to uninstall. Used it, saved, opened and closed Studio a few times. Still there. So just do a reinstall and see if it works. Checked and the uninstaller is there now.

I don't even want to know what happened the first time, would not surprise me if it was gone later lol

Just to check back in. After my typical comp clean up and restart, LAMH is still listed in Studio. It's a head scratcher why is vanished before

Medzinatar  I never saw the "Look at my hair" screen you posted. Is that screen from Look at My Hair or " Look At My Hair FREE"?

I'm getting a little confused. Are we all talking about the "Look at my hair FREE", or the "Look At My Hair" purchased version? I'm talking about the FREE version.

I wanted to see how the FREE version worked. If I can uninstall the FREE version, will it become available on my download list for the install manager?

Everything I have posted uses  Look At My Hair FREE player.  The figure in last screen cap uses "LAMH - White Tiger" found in "DAZ Big Cat 2-->Breeds-->AM"

I do use DIM to install all DAZ content.  However if I am installing something that has an EXE installer available and goes into DAZ executable folder (not content folder) I use that instead.  That way I know for sure where the uninstall executeable resides.

I cannot say for sure how DIM behaves in your instance

"Look At My Hair-FREE Player" is now installed, thank you.

Can you tell me where the "How to use..." instructions are?

The vendor offers extensive information at  his site

http://www.furrythings.com/

there is also info at DAZ site

For the most part, I do not use control panel, instead just clicking on LAMH enabled figure, pose it and then render

I thoughts first sequence being clear, but maybe you being non-english speaker like I am, is not taking.  I put up picture to show what I just done

Philywebrider ( ) posted Tue, 05 August 2014 at 5:00 PM

I load the White Tiger OK

I set the pose OK

But when I go to the render tab (settings) and click Render a tiny window opens, but the tiger does not render, I must be doing something wrong.

Medzinatar ( ) posted Tue, 05 August 2014 at 5:11 PM

quick question.  have you ever rendered anything successfully?

like default genesis opening scene?  just press the control R

Philywebrider ( ) posted Tue, 05 August 2014 at 5:34 PM

Everything rendered successfully, but fur animals .

Control R creates a tiny window, but the tiger does not render.

Philywebrider ( ) posted Tue, 05 August 2014 at 5:46 PM

I had the render setting too low, it is OK now. Thank you very much for taking the time to help. DAZStudio Pro 4.6 is new to me, and I'm lost. Your help is really appreicated. Thank you. Thank you.

now you you can add other items to scenes. In this, I added lady in skimpy costume and my favorite arbor prop, plus a environments and other light.  The render setting I use on this included.

I make small render for example because fur renders slow and render time increases by square of size.
If you clik on it, will become larger

Philywebrider ( ) posted Tue, 05 August 2014 at 8:33 PM

Looks great and you did it so quickly. I'm trying to put something together. I'll post it when it is done. As I said DAZ Studio is new to me so it will take a while.

Thanks again.

This is the finished art. I added a different sky, added stars, added texture to the ruins, did some work on the tigers, etc.
