Bryce is a 32-bit software. 32 bits are limited up to the 2 GB in memory. You'll need to get Bryce to see the other memories. You'll need to get Large Address Aware to make Bryce see the rest of the memories.

Indeed with LMA you could get it to about 3.2 GB tops per app. Even though you have 4 GB of Ram, the 32-bit version of Windows only can addres up to around 3.2 GB if memory serves me right. (pun intended)
If you run a 64-bit version of WIndows, even if you have a 32-bit application that's the main memory hog, you still have a bunch of other processes, services and programs with or without a window that are running at the same time. Ever checked all the things that Adobe runs? A bunch of servers. A whole bunch. If you have the suite of various apps that want to talk together.
I recommend at least 8 GB, I use 16GB, and I run PD Howler which is a 32-bit app, and it runs better than if I only had 4 GB because the other apps are not competing with memory that Howler wants. I think Bryce's situation may be similar.

Project Dogwaffle at thebest3d.com - beyond digital painting, now at v9.5 with erosion, sediments, volumetric particle clouds and self-shading on foliage brushes.

I have an optiplex 760 (64bit, duel core), 750gb disk space and 4 gb of memory yet if I try to do a full scene in Bryce 7 I get an out of memory error.
So aggrevated that I had all my mountains in place, my water placed and started adding trees.
All I had was eight trees and when I tried to add another it hung with out of memory.
The, even though I had svaed the scene, after closing and re-opening, there was nothing there!
What gives???
Let me introduce you to my multiple personalities. :)
