Looks like some nice new features. Just thought I'd give a heads up. Happy Blendering. :)

Upgraded a few days ago but noticed a few buggy things and maybe I might need to reinstall but noticed in Edit mode doing a extrude then drop the tool and go to scale shit z so it only scales on the Y and X axis it actually jumps into a render window and starts rendering. Maybe it is me and maybe hitting a key combo wrong but has happened more than once.

Good catch Lobo3433. It did the same for me. Looks like I'll be reinstalling 2.71.

Well another thing I noticed when checking add on was scrolling to make sure the add ons I use the most were all selected and found that all the way at the bottom it was showing two scripts were showing missing that I had to add indiviually back into the script folder. One was the Add_Pipe_Joints and the second was Add_Mesh Add_Solid. I found this sort of strange since these were orginally packaged back with 2.59 I think roughly. So add them back manually but still experincing the first issue I mentioned above. Also if you use anything other than the defualt theme the new Pie menu will not work properly unless you update your theme as well to the most current version.

Hopefully they will fix these bugs quickly. These are basic fuctions and a deal breaker.

Well once I added the scripts those error messages were gone but the orginal issue has still happened and sorry your experincing it but sort of glad someone else also had the same issue so I know it wasnt just me. Decided to reinstall 2.71 and just run 2.72 from folder till they get these bugs fixed.

Hmm.  Glad I read this before installing.  I'll wait for a while before jumping to 2.72.  Thanks, guys!

Hey Lobo and Cybermonk,

I experienced this as well.  I thought I accidently hit some key strokes that activated F12.  I don't remember what I was doing at the time, and I did not think it was a bug until I saw this thread.

Have either of you reported it as a bug to the bug tracker?

If I can replicate the bug I would like to report it, but I have never stumbled upon a bug in Blender, so I have yet to report any.

How does one go about reporting it?

Do I need to create a special account, or can I use my BlenderArtists log-in for submitting?

Oh, and regarding the pie-menus with other themes; I am using the Hexagon theme, and I haven't experienced anything different with the menus.

What exactly is not working properly?  I will be on the lookout for any oddities, so I can report those as well.

For environment differences to help troubleshoot, I am not running any installed versions of Blender (all from folder), and am using on Windows7 and XP.

Hello DaremoK

I thought about reporting the bug but seems you have to create an account @ https://developer.blender.org/maniphest/task/create/?project=2&type=Bug And I downloaded the newest nightly  build as of Oct 9th and have tried to reproduce the same bug and have not been able to so maybe it is resolve just not in the current stable release. As to the Theme issue it was more an advisory that if you use themes other than the ones that come packed with Blender you might need to update your theme so it is compatiable with the new PieMenu add on. The hexagon theme you are using is one that is prepackaged with Blender so it supports the PieMenu

Thanks for the info, Lobo.

Yeah, the theme is directly from the folder, so that makes sense.  Good to know I will not have to expect any oddities.

For 2.72, guess I'll wait for 2.72a for any modeling work (since it seems fixed in nightly builds).  So far I have just been messing around with Freestyle, mcjTeleblender, and DAZ Studio figure morphing via millighost's DSF import/export script.

Well I been using the 2.72 nightly build and so far it has been ok and have not been able to recreate the bug I usually keep 2 previous versions to run from their folders and only actually install a stable release. I have a few add ons that won't work in 64 bit version and only work in 32 bit versions of Blender. By keeping a veiw version on my system I am able to usually better help since there is always some change with in releases maybe something is moved to a different area or tools are on different panels am able to help others if I can replicate what they see

That's pretty much what I do as well, Lobo. Well, one, anyway. I build-my-own 64-bit version from git, which I do every so often (once you've done it once, all dependencies will be satisfied, and from then on, it's just running the same commands from Terminal). Kind-of fun to mess with the latest-greatest commits.

But yeah, every now and then, they break things. Oh well... at least we get to keep both pieces...

I finally set my system up as dual boot with Linux Mint on one disk and my windows 7 on the other. I have already noticed that even thou my graphic card is not up to par for GPU rendering have notcied that the Linux Side does render a bit faster than my Windows side. I have not gotten as far as doing my own build yet but something I do plan on learning how to do as well. the latest release of Blender is the first one I have had that I came across a bug with which is what I described in this thread. But went and got a nighty build and have not been able to reproduce the bug.

YAY!!!!! Well done, Lobo!

I still use Windows a lot, but more and more I'm finding Linux serves my purposes just fine, and it's a lot less "in-your-face" than Windows. Had to reboot 3 times yesterday doing updates before I could finally use Poser (which is the endpoint of all this Blender modelling). I'm curious to see how Windows 10 will be... they promise good things. But it is nice that I'm no longer dependent on one OS. You'll find that things will suddenly become a lot more flexible for you.

Always more than one way to skin a cat...

Well I had tried OpenSuse, Ubunto and Fedora but settled on Linuxmint. Still learning my away around it and even have pulled out some of my old linux textbooks to help remind me how to do things in Linux since it has been at least 5 years since have seriously used it as an OS. The only thing that got me stuck is trying to Install Silo since they released it as 64bit for Linux and even thou I use mostly Blender I paid for Silo way back when and figure hell I own it lets see if it works better on Linux than Windows.

Well seems they released 2.72a rather quickly with what seemed like many bug fixes look forward to this one being more cooperative  This I think was the first version that I actually had issues with that scary I actually sort of knew they were issues lord I must actually be learning something about Blender . Kinding of course but it was actually a new learning experince in the past things like bugs I would have just blamed myself as not know what the heck I was doing so crossing fingers and Onward we go.

I downloaded and installed 2.72. Now for some reason I can't seem to make it revolve around the center of the grid. Tried changing the orbit from turntable to trackball, but predictably, that made it worse. I'm pretty sure it's something I'm doing wrong though. With Blender, that's just status quo for me.

Did you install the latest 2.72b I know 2.72 had numerous bugs that were mentioned orginally in this post and have just installed 2.72b and so far no issues

Not sure what else it might be except that perhaps the userpref and startup .blend files have become corrupt some how. These files are located in your "UsersusernameAppDataRoamingBlender FoundationBlender2.72config" folder they can be deleted and upon restarting Blender new ones will be created. I have gotten in the habit of backing ththe config folder up in case like with the orginal release of 2.72 where it had so many bugs I could easily revert back to a previous working release actually I keep 2 backup copies just encase but then again I keep two full backup of all my most important files but especially Blender since I have customized it with a few extra workspaces for specific task.
