Subject: Grotesque meat-like V4?

MyCleverName ( ) posted Fri, 12 December 2014 at 4:48 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 8:02 AM

Does anyone recall the item in the MarketPlace several years ago that was a deformed, featureless V4 (possibly V3) that looked like she was made of meat? I think it was made with displacement mapping, but i'm not sure. IIRC it included three variations. It was bumpy and blobby. It was crude and craggy. It was beautifully grotesque.

If you remember :

Who made it?
Was it actually displacements?
Is there anything similar available?
How would I go about making my own version(s)?

I don't know what product you speak of, but send a Vickie to Roxie and she'll happily make her look exactly like that, no problem :-D

The closest thing I've seen to what you describe are the official DAZ muscle maps, and I suppose if you used the same map in both the diffuse and bump/displacement, and give it a shiny, wet look, that might pass for what you need?

Thanks, pumeco.

To be clear, I am not referring to striated muscle tissue like the DAZ muscle maps.

Upon reflection I suppose I meant something more along the lines of bumpy, blobby hamburger / ground beef.

Thanks Zev0, but no, not Oskarsson (nor Babblebub).

I was suspecting corinthianscori, but I have no evidence. It may predate him.

I've searched the MP and galleries, and Google. Perhaps my keywords are insufficient.

Asking the forum was my last ditch attempt. I need a Renderosity historian.

Just yesterday I actually remembered that Hershel Bernardi starred in the TV series 'Arnie' back in 1970 on CBS, so it isn't my memory failing :)

If you are looking for some horror textures, take a look over at RDNA.

There used to be some bruised and bloody textures/shaders here (one was called Ouch!) but they are no longer here...

Here's a neat thing I found out about by accident on Google Images.

Go to Google images and search for something that is likely to bring up the sort of image that looks like what you're after.  Doesn't have to be exact, just as long as it looks something like what you're after.  When you get the search results in images, put your mouse over it and drag it accross the screen and you'll notice a drop point at the top of the screen.

Drag the image there and drop it.

Google will then search it's database of images and find pictures that look similar to what you just dropped on it.  When that happens, it's likely that one of the image results will link to somewhere relevant if you visit a page for an image it found.  It's pretty neat really, because it means you can search by image rather than by text, it's helped me out a few times now.  I'm not sure they should be allowed to run such a system, but nevertheless, it does work for finding things.

So basically, it sounds like you want a figure that looks like it's been skinned alive?

Ok then, so why not search Google Images for "skinned alive" and it will likely throw up images from horror films, but you can then drag and drop those images to initiate a search on images that look similar.  By doing that, you might see a Poser figure that is "skinned alive", and by clicking on that image, you might find a web page that gives you what you want, you might even see the exact image of the product you're trying to remember.

Online Now!

Go to Google images and search for:

poser v4 gore

poser v4 bloody

poser v4 horror

Those terms turn up a lot of results, a few of which could be what you're looking for.

I remember the character texture you are looking for. I believe it was Meat for V3. It has been discontinued by the maker, which whom I could not say. Maybe Mat Creator on Sharecg. Just go over to SCG and search meat in the poser field, you will see Mr. Meaty which is for M3. Click on Mat Creator's gallery and you may find something similar. Maybe contact Mat Creator and ask if it was they who made it.
