Subject: PoserPro 2014 won't start Windows 8.1?

leather-guy ( ) posted Thu, 18 December 2014 at 2:27 PM · edited Sun, 22 December 2024 at 9:14 PM

This may be old news, and solved long ago, but I've tried the forum search function and nothing turned up.

I bought Poser Pro 2014 and installed it on my new computer early last year.  I remember starting it up and  checking it out for a couple of days, so it was good then.  Since then I've been depressingly busy making a living, lots of traveling, working on my new house (living in a "fixer-upper" takes a LOT of your free time), etc.

Long story short, I haven't fired up Poser in several months.  In that time I've installed numerous updates to Windows, including the Win 8.1  upgrade.

Last week I started my first "vacation" in well over a year and I wanted to spend time using Poser.  THE PROBLEM;  Every time I try to start it up I get this message, and the only thing I can do is confirm exit.   Is there some known issue with PPRO2014 and Win8.1 that I need to know?

My version number is 10.0.0.24941 as shown (Serial number obscured in postwork).

Any help appreciated.

Install the SR5, that will fix it.

Do you know if SR5 include all previous updates or do I need to download and install interim updates first?  Smith Micro's page is a bit terse on details.

Thank you for the response, by the way. . .

The latest SR will include all the fixes released in the previous versions.  You'll just need the latest install.

Thank you so very much . . . All downloaded, installed, and so far appears stable - initial scene loaded fine.

Your responses are very much appreciated.

Thank you again.

That's exactly it.  The IE11 update screwed everything up, glad they corrected it promptly.
