Subject: Tutorial : The correct object file import - export options in Blender to create

Poser comes with obz files.
So first you"ll have to unzip the "figure.obz" to a "figure.obj"

Example : Expand P10Roxie1.1.obz into MyOwnRoxie.obj  (never use the same names to avoid accidently overwriting something)

Open Blender and delete the cube.
Goto => File => Import => Wavefront obj => and navigate to your own : MyRoxie.obj
In the import options use the settings from the LEFT picture.

On the numerical keypad push, 5, then 1, then period, and you are ready to go.

In the edit mode and in the Sculpt mode, bu sure to have "X" symmetry checked ON.

You are moprhing => You can NOT add or delete a vertex, edge or polygon; You can only "move" or displace them.

When you want to create asymmetrical morphs, do them in a seperate object file, or do them at the very-very-end.

When ready?
Goto => File => Export => Wavefront object file and use the settings from the RIGHT picture.
Give your object file a NEW name, and save to your working runtime.

Open Poser
Load Roxie
Goto => Figure => Load Full Body Morph and navigate to your object file
A new master dial is created in the Roxie body actor.

You can go 3 ways with your modified object file.
FBM = Full Body Morph where you changed most is not all groups of the original.
PBM = Partial body morph, where you only changed some but not all groups. Exampel jsut hip, both thigh and shins
Or? You can create a NEW figure from this object file. (NOT for distribution as it is still the original mesh) But OK for your own use.

FBM:
Load your object file as a Full Body Morph as above in the tutorial.
A master dial is created in the figure body actor.
All groups also get their own dial.
The morph can be controlled by the master dial, but also individual using the dials of each group.

PBM:
Same procedure as above. But you only need "some" of the groups.
Load your object file as a Full Body Moprh as above in the tutorial.
A master dial is created in the figure body actor.
Select the master dial in the body actor. => Click on the little arrow behind this mater dial and Click DELETE.
In the pop-up window => CHECK all unused parameters to delete.
In our exampel we only needed the hip, both thigh, and both shins, so CHECK ALL OTHER and clic OK.
Only the "used" dials remain, and can be controlled individually or by the master dial in the body actor.

**Create a NEW figure from your morph.
**Ok, you morphed the lot. Ha-ha-ha-, you went bananas when morphing, and want to create a NEW figure for your OWN use.
Poser comes with crz files.
As above unzip Roxie.crz into RoxieMyOwn.cr2 (Use your own name, never overwrite, or leave even a chance to overwrite an original par accident.)

Use a cr2 editor to open the cr2.

Find the 2 lines pointing to P10Roxie1.1.obz, and CHANGE both lines to point to your own morphed object file.
Save the cr2

Open this new cr2 in Poser and you have your own personal morphed figure.

When exporting you also have to check "selection only" otherwise you may end up with other stuff in your file.

 True Nanette; When you have multiple object files loaded in Blender.

When you have only the figure, or a single object file loaded to create a FBM, or PBM, "selection only" can be left unchecked.

I must admit I was so taken back by the face on the left that I didn't even read the text on the image.  Now that I see the one on the right is a reworking of the one on the left, I must admit, the one on the right is looking a lot hotter now, well done Tony, the figure on yours looks much more refined!

Bloody hell, what were they thinking releasing a figue with a face like that!

It's a Poser 2 era low rez figure - what did you think it would look like?  You can do a lot with them btw.  Take a look at this image (focus on the knee).  Figure on the left is at subdivision 0.  figure on the right is at subdivision 3. file_58a2fc6ed39fd083f55d4182bf88826d.pn

 @ vilters have you tried baking displace or normal maps from blender for poser ??

not big changes just things like crows feet, wrinkles ~ pimples etc  maybe scars or stitches

I keep meaning to try it but my sculpting skills are on a par to a 6 yr old hooked on playdoh lol ;-)

I know what you mean, and to be fair the body isn't too bad, but the face?

I expected it to look a lot better than that, I know it's low-poly but it's pretty bad even considering that, I mean look at that face!  It looks like she was high and walked into a brick wall and almost knocked herself out cold or something!

I've always liked Posette, though, which is the first figure I used due to me starting with Poser 3.
But that Poser 2 figure, bloody hell, there's no excuse for how ugly that face is, not even with low-poly :-D

I just loaded that figure into the viewport for the first time, it's definitely low-poly, but how do you switch-on the Subdivision for it?
Mine is greyed out, can't switch it on for that figure.

 You have to select the figure and change from Poser traditional Skinning to Poser Unimesh.
Ten you can set the SubD level.

Cheers Tony, that worked, and I have to say it felt like my viewport was supercharged while playing around with it.  Back then, Poser figures felt slightly laggy like the current ones do today, but a low-poly figure like that is a piece of cake for a modern graphics card to handle - the fluidity is very nice!

She still has to rank as the ugliest Poser figure I've ever seen, though. I've never seen anything like it.  Loading her into the viewport and seeing her only confirmed it, I thought to myself, bloody hell!

Yes, baking, bump, or displacement or normal maps works very good from Blender.
I only tried with single skin figures like Posette and the PoserPro Dev figures, but it works nicely.

Now you see the work involved to go from dead ungly to whant I made.
And sorry you do not like the face, but as with breasts, I build from reference pictures, and WYSIWYG.
What you see is how she is in real life.
And yes, the bikini, is a, add-on. LOL.

Yup, not bad Tony, in fact very good all things considered, but I know you're the 'Low-Poly Maestro' anyway ;-)

Interesting what you said about Posette being a single skin figure, I never knew that, in fact I didn't think there were any figures that had a single skin!
I wish they all did!
