Subject: Help with texture issue.

Turn the Transparency Falloff and Transparency Edge values to zero. Plug Specular Value into the trans map. Set the Filtering on both maps to None instead of Quality.

If it continues to stay dark, unplug the color texture from the specular color and try that.

I don't know what your lighting is so I can't be sure what else is going on.

change lite to ray-traced, use HQ render settings, change spec colour to white, add some props to make it fully-populated scene.

IDL won't matter for now, but use raytracing.  one got that bad lighting on small objs in empty scene with old P4 shadow-mapped lites.
