Subject: Would anybody like this dress as a freebie?

EClark1894 ( ) posted Sat, 24 January 2015 at 11:31 AM · edited Fri, 24 January 2025 at 3:02 PM

This has been sitting on my hard drive for quite awhile now.. I got the inspiration from the movie Frozen. I want to redo a few things and fix the mat zones, but  before I do just wanted to know if anybody even cared enough or if you're tired of Elsa the Snow Queen. It is all completely dynamic though.

No thanks it really wouldn't fit me  :-)

Sorry couldn't resist when I saw the title.  Seriously, It looks good and I could make use of it and I also need to do a lot more with dynamic clothing.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

fictionalbookshelf ( ) posted Sat, 24 January 2015 at 1:08 PM

I think many many people would like that. I'd say finish it how you want and offer it. I would use it once i figure out dynamics (I haven't tried it yet)

Am sick of Elsa (and I haven't even seen the movie) but I'd love the dress. It can always be retextured.

Hmm, I've been thinking of it for so long as Queen Elsa's dress, I suppose it could be retextured for something else, though.

She was all set to be packed up, butt I spot another couple of mat zone mistakes. Other than that, if I wasn't kind of tired of it being on my hard drive, I'd release it to sell. But it's a freebie. I've also been testing how it works in the clogth room all day and haven't had any problems as long as you constrain the entire chest area.

And finally, it's all packed up. I'm uploading the file to the Freestuff library here at Rendo, but it may be awhile before it appears. Or if you can't wait, it's also on Content Paradise for free.

Wow, sometimes it still amazes me how many people like Roxie enough to use her. At last count over 52 people had downloaded the Snow Queen dress. It's noce to feel appreciated.

Red Phantom, I want that dress texture.

seachnasaigh ( ) posted Tue, 27 January 2015 at 9:29 AM

Well, Roxie is more realistically proportioned than most Poser/DAZ dolls, plus your dress is a change from the usual genre of Poser/DAZ outfits.

Thank you for this one, Earl. :)

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

WOW, both great materials but what a difference between the renders shown, just goes to show how a change in the material can change the impact a dress can have.

You know, I actually have another version of the dress, If you've seen Frozen then you know that Elsa transforms her coronation dress into her Snow Queen Gown.  The primary difference is the cape is attached on the Snow Queen dress. It's separate on the Coronation dress.

EClark1894 ( ) posted Sun, 01 February 2015 at 5:33 PM

I was reading some of the comments about this dress on the download page and one commenter asked if I thought I might make the dress to fit V4 and to conform it. It probably wouldn't take much effort to convert the dress  for V4, or to conform it, all though at this time I have no interest in doing so, but I have a quick question regarding the rigging of the cape. Anyone got a suggestion for how I might do that.

primorge ( ) posted Sun, 01 February 2015 at 6:16 PM

No meaningful suggestions really, but I was looking through my V4 stuff and the only conforming cape I could find was the Daz V4 Hooded Cloak... Not quite as long as the cape on your dress. It uses body handles, so maybe that would be a new challenge to attempt. Have to be honest though, something like that just screams dynamic. Probably why there seems to be so few conforming capes or cloaks.

Have you ever tried your hand at transmapped hair?

primorge ( ) posted Sun, 01 February 2015 at 6:30 PM

...oh yeah, the body parts on the rig for that cape are hip, abdomen, chest, hood, rCollar, rShldr, lCollar, lShldr, cloak. There's a handle on both the cloak and hood. The cloak is one large bone. It bends surprisingly well, haven't looked at the zones or settings though.

Hair is something I'll have to master later. I have tried though and it's tougher than it looks... at least for me.

Just saw this over at RDNA. Wierd little coincidence.  Even the name is a coindence.. Frost Queen. It's not free, though and it's only for Genesis 2 female.

Let me clarify something though before it comes up... I'm not making any accusations, veiled or unveiled, and I don't have a problem with it, other than it's better looking than mine. :)

But what's really wierd...file_1d7f7abc18fcb43975065399b0d1e48e.jp

I mean, come on........you were BOTH copying a Disney product.  How much difference CAN there be?

But the differences are actually pretty big.  The skirt bottoms are not even close, nor are the shoulders.

I didn't say there was. And yes Boni, it;s available at RDNA. I SAID it was a coincidense. And Traci's right. It's a riff on a Disney design.

That was for my Batman outfit. It involves weight mapping, and it's pretty simple. I was never able to do it because I only have Poser 9, and you need the pro version to weight map anything. I don't have a link to that thread any longer, but I believe if you search using the words masked vigilante, something might pop up.

I started to convert the Snow Queen dress to fit Dawn. Did a pretty good job of it too. Took a few hours. So I finally finished and was getting ready to run it through Blender's Cloth room. Blender stops work, then crashes on me, tossing everything I had just finished. I honestly don't feel like starting over again. Sorry Dawn.

Actually, I wouldn't have to start completely over. Most of the basic work is done. I just don't feel like tugging this and shrinking that to make it fit perfectly again.

EClark1894 ( ) posted Sun, 08 March 2015 at 5:54 PM

Well, basically, I lied. Right after my last post, I went right back into Blender and redid the Snow Queen dress to fit Dawn. Unfortunately I got a little ambitious and bit off more than I could chew with this sim. Took almost three hours to complete.file_9766527f2b5d3e95d4a733fcfb77bd7e.pn

file_fc221309746013ac554571fbd180e1c8.pnI think the problem last time was basically intersecting cloth mesh between the cape and the dress. This time it simmed quickly and cleanly with zero issues. Took longer to render than to sim it actually.

Here's the problem though. I don't want to give it away in Rendo's freestuff because I want to keep the Rendo  frestuff reserved for Poser natives. Probably gonna give this away exclusively on sharecg.

This is the Man's shirt for Dawn. It is a dynamic clothing product for Dawn and ONLY works in Poser. However, there is an object file included if someone would like to try and rig it for use in Studio for your personal use.

It will NOT be posted in the Rendo Fresstuff  because I want my freestuff page to be exclusively native Poser figure stuff.
