Q: What is DAZ Studio?

**A:**DAZ Studio is a 3D figure illustration/animation application released by DAZ 3D Inc.

It is compatible with most files intended for use by Poser and has its own thriving community of enthusiast and professional artists. 

Version 1.0 was released in October 2005. Until version 1.7 it was officially known as DAZ|Studio. 

On February 1, 2012 Daz 3D announced that it would be giving away for free the full version of DAZ Studio Pro. 

Q: Where can I download DAZ Studio?

A: DAZ Studio Pro is currently available for free! You can download the program at www.daz3d.com. You will need to create a Daz 3D account first and once you have done so, the download will be available on your account page or in DIM (Download Install Manager).

Q: Is it really free?

A: Yes. Currently the Full version of DAZ Studio and its content creation tools are free and also includes the Base Genesis characters with Essentials content.

Q: Where can I find new content for DAZ Studio?

A: Free stuff: You find plenty of free items for DAZ Studio right here at Renderosity Freestuff Section. Another great place for DAZ Studio free stuff is ShareCG.

Commercial Marketplaces: You can find thousands of great products that work in DAZ Studio in the Renderosity Market Place. There are also a number of other marketplaces for Daz Content including Daz 3D and Hivewire 3D websites.

Also if you have Poser installed on your computer, you should be able to use most of your Poser content by accessing it directly from within the DAZ Studio. 

Q: Will all Poser product work in DAZ Studio

A: Generally there is a good level of compatibility with Poser products in DAZ Studio and each product at Renderosity will state in its software requirements if it has been built with compatibility for DAZ Studio also check the reviews. Some known compatibility issues are with some types of complex materials and any python scripting. 

Some adjustment of materials may be required for products to look there best in DAZ Studio.

Q: I purchased a product from Renderosity, and its a zip file how do I install it?

A: DAZ Studio content when installed from a zip file uses a merging process to add the product to your content library. Like Poser DAZ Studio has a content library located on your hard drive. You will need to unzip the downloaded product and merge its contents into content library. Renderosity products will include full installation instructions in the product readme.txt and don't hesitate to contact the vendor if anything is unclear with the instructions.

Bump,

the current FAQ recently updated is still %95 wrong, inaccurate or out of date.

Pls fix it...

Here is a FAQ version I wrote nearly 2 yrs ago and nothing was done with it....

I just had to trawl through about 400 posts to find it because the search function is useless.
